Soup dumplings were my favorite! Will com back for the dumplings, eggplant salad and doushabing! 4 star for the food because the plum juice was not sour enough comparing to the ones I had growing up, the xi’an bing was okay, very lamby for those who don’t like lamb-I would stay away from that until they improve/change how they make them. Dandan noodle had an interesting taste which did not have enough flavor for me. Overall a great experience!

Update - came back here again and am blown away by how good the cold noodles with beef was. Highly, highly recommend. It was sooo flavorful. Must try and definitely worth the hype! I came here on a Saturday around 4pm - it was definitely busy, but got lucky and only had to wait 25 minutes. The pork and chive dumplings were phenomenal. The sauce that comes with it is sooo delicious. I will definitely be back.

Delicious food, beautiful presentation, and friendly, helpful staff. I had the mushroom soup, cucumber salad, the bread thing, and oolong tea.

There was a bit of a wait, even after the lunch rush on a Sunday, but the food was so good! Overall, very cozy vibe and very cozy dishes. We especially enjoyed the Dan Dan Noodles and appreciated that we could get the chili oil on the side to adjust the spiciness to our liking. Also recommend the House Noodle Soup!

I went to Lao Peng You a while ago and somehow forgot to post a review. I recently came across these photos on my phone, and they instantly reminded me how much I loved this meal. Everything we ordered hit the spot Dan Dan Noodles packed with savory depth and chili oil, a comforting bowl of beef noodle soup with clean, rich flavor, and plump, juicy dumplings that tasted clearly handmade. The cold dishes were a perfect balance, adding brightness and freshness alongside the warm bowls. Bold flavors, thoughtful seasoning, and that comforting, no-frills kind of cooking that food lovers appreciate. Combined with the lively, welcoming atmosphere, it’s the kind of place that stays in your memory long after the meal. Lao Peng You is absolutely worth revisiting and clearly worth finally reviewing.

Featured in pics: *Dan Dan Noodles, Mushroom Noodle Soup, *Pork and Chive Dumplings, Beef and Green Onion Dumplings, *Cold Chicken (also got xi’an bing, not featured) * = standouts/would highly recommend All of it was great! So many dumplings in one order; they don’t skimp! We waited about ~35-40 minutes to be seated on a Thursday night around 6:20.

Ordered the pork and chive dumplings to-go and they were fine. I was kind of underwhelmed but they’re solid and they taste homemade. The sauce was fine—it’s mainly just vinegar and chili oil. I do think the price is a little high for the amount of dumplings given.

The food here is great. The atmosphere could be great too because the decor is cool, but for some reason they choose to absolutely blast the music which kind of makes it uncomfortable and even annoying. Interesting choice of music too, given the name, cuisine, and customer expectation of the establishment. Just my $0.02..

My mom sees a line at this place all the time and wanted to go; just today, I found out this place was on The Bear. On a Friday at 5:45pm we were told we would have to wait 1hr 30min. Then, just 5min later of sitting at their empty outdoor seating, an employee said we can be served outside if we’d risk the rain that might come (it didn’t). So yay, thanks for us skip the line. We ordered the savory dou hua/tofu and beef & green onion dumplings. I liked the tofu but the dumplings were ok and the broth is too salty. Like their website boasts, they don’t claim authenticity, so if you want white people to serve you Chinese food, go to Lao Peng You.
