Phodega — among the best chinese in Noble Square. Order the Viet Dip Sandwich. The decor hasn't changed, and it doesn't need to. "The broth is rich and aromatic, and the fresh ingredients make each bowl comforting and satisfying" — J G [$$, patio]

☀️Patio — a Noble Square classic in summer.

There is a distinct, visceral magic when a kitchen stops trying to optimize for the algorithm and simply cooks the food they grew up eating. Walk into Phodega on Division, and the first thing that hits you isn't marketing jargon—it’s the intoxicating, clear aroma of beef bone broth, star anise, and the distinct sizzle of chicken fat. It is a metropolitan sanctuary of high-fidelity flavor. The Pho Bo arrives unapologetically hot, boasting rare sliced ribeye, brisket, and beef meatballs swimming in a broth so profoundly deep it feels like an emotional reset button. But the real street-level poetry is found in The Viet Dip—a brilliant, messy hybrid of thinly sliced ribeye, jalapeños, and homemade aioli on French bread, served with a side of rich pho jus for dipping. It is absolute genius, completely devoid of pretense. The real Sunday move, however, happens outside, out front. Their "Noods and Grooves" parties turn the vibey front, street-side patio into a sun-drenched haven of deep house music and pure community. As the four-on-the-floor kick drums bounce off the brick walls, you sit there with a cold drink, a bowl of thick rice noodles, and a plate of crispy salt-and-pepper chicken skins. It’s a beautiful, chaotic, yet strangely peaceful collision of sub-bass and comfort food. The Verdict: Phodega isn't just feeding Wicker Park; they are curating a culture. Go for the brilliant Hainan chicken rice, stay for the house music, and find a little bit of peace within the noise of the city. Thank me later. 10/10 recommend

Phodega is THE place to go for that Viet food lovers! For those who never been or tried you’re missing out. Everything is made in house with an open kitchen so you literally are that beautiful work of art that just warms your belly. Don’t miss out on the Chicken Skin!! After you and eat you don’t want that food coma to hit make sure you grab their Viet Coffee. Creamy delicious and dressing that gave me a burst of energy. This is one of the Asian spots where you see the owners working like a regular employee so that showed me how much they love what they do! The world might be scarier and sucks but I guarantee you that this place will make you happy.

How hadn’t I been here before?!?! The food is insanely good and it’s such a cool spot. I got the spicy chicken banh mi, lemongrass beef banh mi, fries, and Vietnamese style shrimp eggrolls for my husband and I to split. It was all SO good. I can’t wait to come back.

Just a feedback on packaged pho ga I just received for takeout- the broth arrived still warm, and I know I have to reheat it, but: The noodles weren’t warm, and the chicken was fridge cold temperature. The bowl was already dressed with the herbs and onions. Even with reheated boiling broth, the fridge temp cold chicken and cool noodles would’ve cooled down the soup too much for it to be eaten hot. So, I had to hand strip and remove the chicken of the herbs to reheat in the microwave, because if I did not, the herbs would’ve darkened and wilted when I microwaved it. Other than that, the soup was light and flavorful and exactly what I needed after a week of traveling.

First time coming here. First time ever trying pho. This was the best experience ever! The food was so good and the customer service was so great! The food came out so quickly! They even helped me read the labels in the back of the drinks since they weren’t in English. So kind and very welcoming. Very clean atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back here with some friends

Overall outstanding! The Viet Dip is sneakily one of the best sandwiches in the city and their classic Bahn Mi does the job quite well. Add in their excellent Pho and fried chicken and this place is a winner. Prices are also fantastic for the qualify of food that you get. Great spot for lunch or dinner!

We were long overdue for a visit to Phodega and finally made it out to support our friend Nate. It did not disappoint. The food was outstanding. We’ve eaten a lot of Vietnamese food over the years, and this absolutely holds its own. The Viet Dip was crazy good. Deep, rich broth with serious flavor. I even ended up getting the beef banh mi with a side of Viet Dip because the broth was that good. No regrets. The salt and pepper chicken skins were almost too much to handle in the best way possible. Perfectly crisp, packed with flavor, and totally addictive. The ambiance is just as strong as the food. Great music, great energy, real Phodega vibe. We literally found ourselves dancing in our seats while eating. If you’re on the fence, go. Flavor, atmosphere, and overall experience are all top tier. This is now our go to spot for Vietamese food while in the Chicagoland Area!
