Soban Korea — Evanston korean that sets the standard. Nothing about this place is trying to impress you, and that's the point. No shortcuts. You can taste the intention. Owner-operated, BYOB. "The rabokki was so spicy and rich, while the sundubu was piping hot and packed with soon tofu" — Nighat Ansari

One of their $15 'recommended' stews was literally package ramen, mixed with hot dogs and spam. Can't recommend.
Took my wife here for an impromptu night out. She ordered the beef bulgogi and I had beef bibimbap.

“It came with some delicious banchan on the side which I was pleasantly surprised to see”
This is the worst Korean restaurant in Chicago area.
“This was my first visit.”
This was my first visit. My server was informative and attentive and helped me choose an appropriate spice level for my main entree. The food was delicious, and I plan to return to try more items.

Great food, everything was great especially the Japchae, probably the best I've ever had! Service was friendly and professional, all the staff member seemed very nice and helpful! Love the cozy and comfortable atmosphere, exactly what I expected from a family-owned Korean restaurant! There were many North Western staff and students there eating as well, and they look like regular customers. I had eaten at a lot of Korean restaurants, this is definitely Top 5! Will definitely go there again! Highly recommended!

A very mom and pop store, The lady serving was very respectful and nice The food though, everything else dimmed in comparison. The food was out.of.this.world. On the first bite I was planning on bringing my family and friends to this place. I'm in love. The craving I had was satiated so well. Can't wait to come here again and try more of their food. 10/10 !!!!!!!!!

“Delicious Korean food.”
Delicious Korean food! We were in Evanston and this was the perfect dinner on a chilly evening. We ordered the rabokki, the sundubu with beef, and the 10 mini fried veggie mandu. The rabokki was so spicy and rich, while the sundubu was piping hot and packed with soon tofu. The banchan was good too

Amazing food. I didn’t realize there was a Korean restaurant that was so close to my office at Northwestern. I used to live in K town and I love Korean food. I can say their food is definitely authentic and tasty.

From the moment we walked in we were greeted with warm smiles and an inviting atmosphere. The bulgogi was excellent, nicely spiced and flavorful. The fried rice complimented the bulgogi wonderfully. The ramen noodles extra spicy were so good as I watched my 8 year old daughter devour almost the entire bowl! If you’re looking for a solid and tasty family owned restaurant this is it! Oh be sure to try the Jacob’s tear tea…perfect ending to a delicious lunch✨
