We finally got to taste their Jokbal and Bossam! It took several attempts to make it happen as they used to run out of food. Now they have lunch options. The food can seem limited. If someone in your group dislikes pork, they might struggle to find options. Additionally, the kimchi and other side dishes (banchans) are noticeably sweeter compared to what you'd typically find in homemade or restaurant Korean meals.

5/2026 We're from out of state and finally got to revisit a year later. So happy we did, as their food is still outstanding! We did takeout this time, and it was still good. Siraegi Gamjatang 시래기 감자탕 We remembered to get this one rather than the Mugeunji 묵은지 version. It was as good as we remembered. This dish is probably better at the restaurant, where you can cook on the table and get the rice done for you at the end. We were still pretty happy at home, though it did add some work. Half and half jokbal 반반 족발 Finally got to try their jokbal - delicious! The hot spicy version was also very, very good. In fact, I had just had some in Korea, and these here were better than the ones I had there. Impressed! The regular version was also good. I really did like the half and half version, cuz the spicy was a little too spicy for some in the group and they got to have their regular version. While I didn’t think it was too spicy, I enjoyed having the other version to alternate. The veggies that came with were also fresh and crunchy. The owner also gifted us with their Gaejang 게장 - seasoned raw crabs. These weren’t on the menu just yet but he was telling us they would start selling them soon and let us try them. They were very generous. Most of us in the group got to take a piece and these were SO GOOD - and not just because they were free. I’m serious - I make these myself so I don’t feel compelled to pay for them, but I would definitely buy them here when I’m in town. I must say, they definitely do it better than I can. ============== last review: 5/2025 This is about as authentic as it comes. it's not the most popular K-food menu that you might be familiar with... but all the items in the menu are super popular in Korea, especially as anju (to have with soju/alcohol). And this place is legit! We made a reservation via google, but arrived to find out that they don’t honor google reservations. So if you need reservations, CALL! Also, as of May 2025, they run out of food fast, especially their specialty, the Jokbal (pork hocks) and bossam. The owner gave us a table (for 8) despite not having a reservation on his records, but said they could only serve us gamjatang. And a few other menu items, minus the Jokbal and bossam. Getting to another restaurant on a Saturday evening without a reservation would be pretty impossible without waiting another hour or so. So we decided to give them a try. Good choice! Finally being seated and putting in our order, the owner sent us a chive pancake on the house as an apologetic gesture. Thought this was actually very tasteful, both in act and in flavor. Siraegi Gamjatang & Mugeunji GAmjatang We shared a large of each, and it was plenty of food for 8 of us. This is a pot that will cook on the table. Siraegi is radish leaves, and this one is a more deeper tasting soup. The mugeunji version has old kimchi, though I don’t think the kimchi was that old. And the kimchi taste was actually quite strong, and if I were to order again, I would totally skip this one and get 2 of the Siraegi. Both were good, with falling off the bone pork and tasty veggies. Overall, I wish they had a little more perilla seed powder. When you are almost done, you can add rice, and they will make you a fried rice dish right on the table. Make sure you get it crusty and delicious! Jangban Jjolmyeon This is a very chewy noodle dish, with spicy sauce and lots of veggies. They bring it out pretty, and give you gloves to mix for yourself. So a little work, but quite tasty. But if ordering the gamjatang, I think I’ll skip it next time - not really worthy of the $17 price tag. Chive pancake was on the house, and fat and crusty and delicious. I would pay for this! Reservation troubles aside, I would definitely come back for their more popular dishes, especially their namesake, the jokbal.

I was lucky that it wasn’t very crowded when I visited. The food was excellent, and the rice was pretty good as well. The portions were more than generous, so you definitely get your money’s worth. Great quality, great taste, and exactly the kind of food people look for.

Atmosphere As soon as you walked in, all you see is Korean you know this place is legit! This place reminded me of a cafeteria, very white and simple price I didn’t order but five adult and two kids, we couldn’t finish three dishes LOL got a lot of left over, even with tip its less than $200 Services Quick & friendly services, as soon as we ordered, food show up in like 5mins… Taste The jokbal was tender, juicy and very flavorful. We order half spicy and half original. Oh boy, the spicy jokbal was sooo good and I don’t even eat spicy LOL the gamjatang has rich and savory broth but its not as tneder pork as the jokbal

Omg if this is not the best jokbal you had, you are missing out. Seriously nobody in Chicago cooks better jokbal than here. I mean this is franchise in korea that has over 100 stores, no wonder its so good. Just look at that color of jokbal, that texure of so chewy packed with flavor. And I can honestly come here just for their banchan. Their radish and white kimchi, so good. No wonder people refill multiple times, I seen next table refill like 4 times, 3times for myself. It goes well with the meat, wrapped it cabbage with little bit of both shrimp paste and ssamjang, so good. Its definitely a bit more pricy than nearby korean places but taste is just incomparable. I can never go back to other locations to be honest. Keep up the good work and dont change!
