Ahjoomah's Apron Korean Restaurant — clean, consistent korean in Chinatown. Clean, design-forward interior throughout. The cooking is rooted in real tradition. Easy on the wallet. "The tofu bibimbap was tasty, and the cod soup was nice and lightly spicy, perfect for a cold day" — Anatasia Pham

I love Korean food, but I was really disappointed when I tried this restaurant.
We used to love coming here. Today changed that.
The staff was so nice, and the restaurant offered good variety of side dishes, which I truly appreciated.

“Excellent interior decor and location off cermak road.”
Excellent interior decor and location off cermak road. I'll definitely come again for my bibimpap dish. I'll be eating this for like 3 days haha.

“One of my favorite restaurants in the area.”
One of my favorite restaurants in the area! Everything was really good, starting from the banchans where there’s a marinated tofu and fish cakes that were delicious. We got the zhajiangmian (black bean sauce noodles), seafood soondoobu, and gingseng chicken soup where the chicken was stuffed with sticky rice—yummy! (But note that the soup flavor is very pure of chicken and ginseng flavors, not much salt, sauce, or spices) The staff was really nice and attentive. Would come back again!

“We stumbled upon this Korean spot in Chinatown and I’m so glad we did.”
We stumbled upon this Korean spot in Chinatown and I’m so glad we did! We visited on a Tuesday night and were seated right away. The staff was friendly, and they had a great Tuesday special which was half-off noodles. I got the chicken bulgogi, and my friends ordered two noodle dishes. The portions were generous, the flavors were excellent, and our total bill came out to only $45, such a great value for the amount of food we got. The cozy atmosphere reminded me of restaurants I visited while studying abroad in South Korea. Definitely planning to come back!

“The food was excellent and the staff were so nice.”
The food was excellent and the staff were so nice! The banchan served with our meal was all very good. I highly recommend the beef gimbap (kimbap) if you are looking for a light lunch option. It was a great, affordable option for Korean food in Chinatown near the plaza!

“Perfect cool night for a seolleongtang and probably the one of the only places to get it south of downtown.”
Perfect cool night for a seolleongtang and probably the one of the only places to get it south of downtown. If you can avoided the predatory ticketing people from the Dept. of Finance, check it out! Got there around 530 on a Friday night and there were plenty of tables. Come by 6 and you could potentially expect a wait. The tang was good and the seafood pancake was crispy! My only complaint was the thin flat metal chopsticks…Like whiskey tango foxtrot.

“I’m still pretty new to Korean food, but Ahjoomah’s made me feel right at home.”
I’m still pretty new to Korean food, but Ahjoomah’s made me feel right at home. The Kalbi was sooo delicious and the portions were generous. Everyone was friendly, and we got seated right away which was such a nice surprise. I left full and happy—I’ll definitely be back to try more dishes! This makes me even more excited about my upcoming trip to Korea.

“You can often judge a Korean restaurant by the quality of their ban Chan and the ban Chan here was exceptional.”
You can often judge a Korean restaurant by the quality of their ban Chan and the ban Chan here was exceptional. The kimchi was perfectly fermented and the right spice level. We also had jja jang myun (black bean noodles), bibim naeng myun (spicy cold noodles), budae jigae (army stew) and veggie fried dumplings. All were delicious and super authentic tasting

Came here to have a quick birthday dinner for my friend and it was delicious! The portions were a lot bigger than expected so it’s worth the value. I got japchae with no meat and added tofu!! It’s a rare occasion I can find places that don’t automatically put meat in this dish :’)

“AMAZING food with huge portion.”
AMAZING food with huge portion. Such a good impression for our first time in Chi town! Their food was tasty, flavorful and authentic. Whoever’s looking for a good Korean place, go here, their menu is huge! Servers were friendly, fast, quick and accommodating. They brought us the wrong check from another table but thankfully we noticed it and got the right check! Whenever we went there was no line, but I can see them being busy because the food was that good! Parking is impossible on the street, but go to the public parking 3 minutes walk away. It’s $2 for 3 hours with the restaurant validations and Ahjoomah’s Apron is one of the participants. Anyways, check this place out! I love Chicago ❤️

“Update: After haven't been there for a long time.”
Update: After haven't been there for a long time. I visited with my friend. Let's just say it was an interesting experience. The service was great as always. My friend and I order out food. The food came and look awesome. Unfortunately, there was a piece of debris from the cooking utensils in my food. I called the server to let them know. They apologize and served me a new plate. When I got my second and was eating it I noticed there was a short hair in it. Once again, I let the server know, the manager came and apologized profusely and said they would cook any dish on the house for me to eat or to go. I only asked for a bowl of rice to eat with the banchan because at this point I really didn't feel like eating any food. They apologize and gave us some Korean juices and took my dish off the ticket. It'll be another while before I can come back. --------------------------------- Original post I have gone since they opened and have always had a good experience. The service is always good. The food went through a weird phase at one time (maybe change in cooks or it was just a bad day). Went back again and the food was amazing!
