Uni Sushi — a japanese spot in Wicker Park. No frills and no gimmicks, just a solid honest room. Service that's warm without being over the top, and BYOB. "The rice is perfectly seasoned and holds together just right, enhancing every bite" — Dominic Miller

“My experience here was above and beyond all my hopes and expectations for a well prepared and authentic poke bowl 🥣 In fact I asked if miso soup 🍲 was included and initially my friendly server told me "No" then to my surprise she said the Chef 👨🍳 would be happy to accommodate my request”
Overly salted broth. Pork belly was mostly fat, and the little meat that was present was tough.
So confused by the good reviews…it’s one thing to serve mediocre sushi (the namesake uni was not good and the toro was literally still frozen together) but it’s another thing to charge as much as they do for it — spent $70/pp.
Food is good, but they charge ridiculous amount of money to modify order.

My experience here was above and beyond all my hopes and expectations for a well prepared and authentic poke bowl 🥣 In fact I asked if miso soup 🍲 was included and initially my friendly server told me "No" then to my surprise she said the Chef 👨🍳 would be happy to accommodate my request. She asked if I'd like my miso soup prepared spicy or non spicy so I went for the spice and I was exceptionally delighted. The flavors of my miso soup was a blend of heat, good texture and interesting flavors. There were many delicate mushrooms 🍄 and peppers 🌶 in the soup and I could see the red chilli oil within the broth. My Thai iced tea was also delicious and the trio poke bowl 🥣 was extremely fresh tasting with three types of raw fish, seaweed, edamame and other vegetables including mango 🥭 squares. Every item in my poke bowl was fresh tasting and complimented eachother. The chef here cooks with great skill and love and all the team members here are so friendly and work well together. I'm so happy I found this gem 💎 in Wicker Park and I will definitely be returning here again soon!

“I came across this place by accident and sooo glad!”
I came across this place by accident and sooo glad!! Was walking to the blue line but was starving and this was the first place I saw. I ordered two rolls and edamame then ran to the liquor store across the street for a Beer since it’s byob. I was served as soon as I got back. The rolls were big, delicious, fresh and priced right. I will be visiting this spot when I’m working in the area.

“Uni Sushi is a good neighborhood sushi spot.”
Uni Sushi is a good neighborhood sushi spot. Usually little to no wait, good for delivery, a lot of choices on the menu including sushi and yakitori. I highly recommend the uni temaki (look at the appetizer section) since I think it's a good value for the amount of uni you get.

“My go-to takeout.”
My go-to takeout. It’s not the cheapest option but the quality for what you get is excellent. Never lets me down. The sashimi platters are the best.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Uni Sushi Delivers an Exceptional Experience Uni Sushi is an absolute standout — a must-visit for anyone who appreciates top-tier sushi and impeccable service. From the moment you walk through the door, you’re greeted with genuine hospitality that sets the tone for a fantastic meal. The quality and freshness of the food are truly exceptional. Every piece of sushi is expertly prepared, and the fish is nothing short of pristine — buttery, delicate, and bursting with flavor. You can tell that Uni Sushi takes sourcing seriously, and it makes all the difference. The rice is perfectly seasoned and holds together just right, enhancing every bite. We sampled a variety of nigiri and specialty rolls, and every dish was a home run. The presentation is elegant, but it’s the taste that steals the show. Even simple classics like salmon and tuna were elevated to something memorable. On top of that, the service is thoughtful, attentive, and never intrusive. The staff clearly takes pride in making every guest feel welcomed and well cared for. Uni Sushi isn’t just a great sushi restaurant — it’s the kind of place you look forward to coming back to. Whether you’re a sushi connoisseur or just looking for a high-quality meal, Uni Sushi delivers on every front.
