Tensuke Market and Food Court — Elk Grove Village japanese that sets the standard. The recipes feel handed down, not invented. Well-priced, fast service. Jade Wyzzard: "They have THE BEST spicy mayo on the planet and the sushi is top quality as well as affordable"

Ran out of food after making me wait 30 min for it.
This review is strictly for the food court. I ordered a katsu don, the most basic of the basic.

“My doctor's office is out there and after my appointment, I wanted some delicious sushi without breaking the bank and boy oh boy this was a treat”
“Perfect alternative to the crowds, chaos and gimmicks at Mitsuwa.”
Perfect alternative to the crowds, chaos and gimmicks at Mitsuwa. The locals know: the food court is excellent and has all of your favorite Japanese dishes. My katsu curry arrived 2 minutes after I ordered and was hot, tender, and the best I’ve had outside of Japan. The grocery and liquor sections are fully stocked with lots of seasonal deals. Don’t miss this one and please don’t let TikTok influencers ruin it.

“Fun little Japanese Grocery Store and Food Court.”
Fun little Japanese Grocery Store and Food Court. While not as big as the Mitsuwa marketplace nearby, the Tensuke had a more friendly atmosphere and vibe compared to Mitsuawa.

I found Heaven, and it’s just a bit west of Chicago. I love this place! Excellent sake selection, fun Japanese selections of candy and food. It also has an authentic restaurant with excellent, really excellent, food.

I came here looking for lunch while killing time to return a car at O'Hare, the food court is closed ATM for expansion, but the market is INCREDIBLE, they have everything, they have sales all over the place and the prices otherwise are so reasonable, I spent 80 dollars and had a basket overflowing with stuff ( should have spent more really) I can't recommend this place enough, 10/10 would and will come back.

Small Japanese grocery store and food court offering verity of fresh, delicious food. I always order poke bowl, miso soup, but their seafood soup and sushi are really good too. My coworker and I recommend it!! Really good spot for lunch break 😉

“Came here for a late lunch.”
Came here for a late lunch. The food was fantastic. The fish was extremely fresh and the rice soft and flavorful. The miso soup was really tasty as well. The takoyaki was well made, but unfortunately, turns out I don't like octopus. Was told the dragon roll was really good, too.

“Neat little Japanese marketplace with a food court in the back, which I have eaten in on three separate occasions.”
Neat little Japanese marketplace with a food court in the back, which I have eaten in on three separate occasions. The supermarket is small, but I have found it to be much homelier even as far as Japanese (and other Asian) supermarkets go in this region. Most selections are typical for other such supermarkets, and there is a section close to the front entrance where one can pick up bento meals made fresh in store that day. I have also had very friendly interactions with the staff present. As for the food court, I have found this generally to be a much more pleasant experience than to order the same food at one of the tenants of Mitsuwa Marketplace (which is roughly five minutes north on Arlington Heights Road). One gets a lot of value for the price over in this establishment (typically no more than 15 bucks a meal), and I have never had a problem locating seating in this establishment (compared to Mitsuwa's food court, which is at capacity most of the time during peak meal time). This is likely due to the hole-in-the-wall atmosphere that this place conveys.

I don’t know where to beginning… Tensuke is a market/grocery shop as well as a food court Before covid, the food court used to be very small probably only 10 tables but after they remodeled now can hold around 30 tables Food, super affordable and fresh(thanks to being in a grocery shop lol). I normally order two order of the sushi deluxe which has 8 piece of sushi for $11.95; YES that is like $1.5 per sushi and the salmon is not even small lol I also like their Unaju, grilled eel over steam rice $12.95; a lot of eel! Everything they have is over sized for a very reasonable price! We also like their grilled salmon set for $11.50 Their rice is actually sticky, unlike kura lol Miso soup is all you can drink If you order a meal, it comes with a choice of salad, drink, gyoza or edamame

“Fantastic Japanese store with an awesome and comfortable food court.”
Fantastic Japanese store with an awesome and comfortable food court. Their menu is great; we tried katsudon, takoyaki, and salmon teriyaki. Free miso soup refills! The market itself has a great selection of Japanese grocery and household items, and even a section of Sanrio and other cute products. Definitely keeping it in my list of favorite places to shop at.

“This is the perfect alternative to Mitsuwa.”
This is the perfect alternative to Mitsuwa. It’s a smaller Japanese grocery store/bakery shop and there’s a restaurant inside. I wouldn’t call it a food court since a food court typically involves multiple restaurants in one area. The bakery selection has different buns wrapped for easy convenience. I tried a few and they’re delicious. They’re perfect for snacks and breakfast on the go. I came here specifically for the restaurant. You can order from the kiosk (2 screens on the right) or you can order from the cashier. Prices are very cheap. They give you a number, you find a table, and wait. If you go on a weekend, you have to give them some slack because it does get busy. I went on a Wed night and surprisingly it was busy for a week night. They called out my number, gave us our order, two styrofoam cups for drinks, and a few styrofoam cups with lids for the miso soup. Portions were very generous for the price. Everything was made fresh and quality was exceptional. They have plenty of seating. -katsu don 5 - pork cutlet was a good size for sharing, moist, and tender. It comes with a salad. -miso soup 5 - you’ll find two pots with miso. It’s all you can eat. Make sure you get some tofu in your soup. -unaju set 5 - I love eel so I was elated to see a more than adequate amount of eel in here. It was perfectly tender and melts in your mouth. -king of salmon set 5 - I wasn’t expecting much quality wise but this surpassed my expectations. Salmon to rice ratio was above par.
