Ninja Sushi & Thai
Ninja Sushi & Thai — Portage Park japanese with a strong Sushi. The kind of place your parents probably knew about too. The food looks as good as it tastes. Well-priced, BYOB. "The chicken teriyaki was another highlight: tender, juicy" — Geneva Ponce [$$]

“We come here often with our kids and it’s quickly become one of our favorite spots. It’s a small place, but very cozy and welcoming. The staff is always friendly and attentive, which makes a big difference when dining with family. The food comes out fairly quickly, is always delicious, and beautifully presented every time. Highly recommend!”

“This was such a fun place! The food was absolutely delicious 🤤, beautiful presentation and fairly priced! I went there for a friends birthday and we had the best time with the friendly and funny waitress! The restaurant is BYOB, great for friends, family and date night!”

“Food was PREMIUM!!!! Not even Exadurating... I ordered "DRUNKEN NOODLE", & "PHILLY MAKI" it got me stuffed for like $20 so affordable and delicious!!! And, for a Limited time (meaning I don't know how long it'll continue for) if you leave them a Really good rating but seriously you gotta like the place a lot to do so, they'll give you a free ice tea or free ice coffee to go of your choosing!!!”

“If you are looking for a true Portage Park gem. It’s my first time ordering here and I will be back. I walked in to pick up. The the restaurant was very clean and everybody was really nice. Had the Pad See Ew, and it was perfect the noodles had the ideal texture, and it was packed with big, juicy chunks of chicken. We also started with the Chicken Gyoza, which were savory, crispy, and served hot. As always called in my order directly the staff on the phone it was super nice Highly recommend Ninja Sushi and Thai for anyone in the neighborhood looking for authentic flavors and great service.”

“On this night we visited Ninja Sushi in Portage Park for a late night dinner. We had talked about this place but I wasn’t sure that it was a good choice for me. It seemed gimmicky. Boy was I wrong! The theme ties nicely with a homey Japanese ambiance and decor inside. Feels like a Wicker Park place in Portage Park. But… the real surprise was in the food! Here we go! We ordered Cucumber salad and Fried Tofu with Peanut sauce, Tamako, Woon Sen Pad Thai, Veggie Monster Maki, and Spider Maki. And since it’s a BYOB, I chose to pair that with ROAM Hard Kombucha Hibiscus Berry. The salad was very tasty with the dressing being well balanced but light on the sweetness and tanginess. Now… here is where the story takes a violent turn. I DO NOT LIKE TOFU and used to think that it was a food that should have never been made. UNTIL I tried Ninja’s Fried Tofu. It was fried crispy and with a firm yet light and fluffy inside. Totally different than any other tofu I’ve ever tasted. The peanut sauce was a rich pairing for it and was absolutely delicious. Tamako was Tamako, light and fluffy. Then came the Pad Thai and the rolls. The rolls, made fresh with quality ingredients you could taste. Complex yet subtle and definitely delicious! The Pad Thai was nothing short of fantastic! I asked for medium hot and they nailed it! It was lightly sweet and spicy and very tasty. Well balanced and not oily with good sized and plentiful shrimp. The presentation on every dish was beautiful and colorful and artsy. The service was awesome even as we were some of the last customers to leave at closing and this made us put Ninja on our Portage Park Fave list. Thank you for a memorable meal! P.S. we have been here a dozen or so times since the original review and tried a variety of rolls and dishes, they have all been very good. This place still rocks!”

“Friendly service. The food is delicious. The pricing is not bad. The strawberry smoothie is delicious. Granddaughters devoured her sushi. Sorry no pic of that.”
