Koya in Wilmette — a quiet japanese spot in Wilmette with a growing reputation. Staff that genuinely cares how your meal goes. Avi Clancy: "The ingredients were fresh, and portions were pretty large"

“Pros: - bowls are delicious, I would order again - I'm happy the bowls are compostable Cons: - the standard create your own bowl is pretty slim for the price, I added a couple extra toppings - the milk tea was okay, they're very sweet”
We order from Koya frequently - the food lacks consistency.
Big disappointment I thought it was going to be a poke-type place, and sushi. And it was pretty much neither.
We have a favorite japanese restaurant in Winnetka but wanted to try Koya so as to try somewhere 'new'...it was a definite fail ....the seafood udon had no real udon noodles and tasted and smelled awful!----the chicken teriyaki and tempura did not live up to our expectation either....super oily tempura and chicken did not taste fresh.

“This is now a favorite spot for us!”
This is now a favorite spot for us!! Lots of good gf, vegetarian, and vegan options and it was super tasty!!! I got the veggie bento, the people with me got a chicken teriyaki bowl and a sunset bowl and both were very happy. And all of them came with miso soup! We also got the mango boba and it was tasty, I recommend less sweet. Would definitely recommend this restaurant, especially for a quick bite for not too much!

“This place was modern and sparkly clean.”
This place was modern and sparkly clean. The staffs were amazing! We tried the to-go menus for the first time. The whole family gave thumbs up! My husband, 5th grade son, 8th grade daughter and I were all so pleased. It is rare we find a place that we all love. Can't wait to go back and try more. Food was delicious and fresh! Bowl Chicken Teriyaki, Bowl Avocado Torch, Bowl Sunset all had excellent flavors. I also love their eco friendly packaging. Highly recommend Koya.

“The best lunch I have had in a while.”
The best lunch I have had in a while. Super helpful and welcoming staff. On top of all that, they use recyclable and compostable take out containers. I am appreciative of small businesses like this one. They did everything right.

“Good food and very flavorful.”
Good food and very flavorful. Had the beef teriyaki cup. It was a nice size for portion control. The food was a little cold not sure if that is how it is supposed to be or just due to the delivery process.

My family and I got several bowls from Koya. We loved all of the customizable toppings it offers as well as the complimentary miso soups and cookies that come with the bowls. The ingredients were fresh, and portions were pretty large. The food was very reasonably priced.
