CHICAGO RAMEN — one of Des Plaines's strongest japanese spots. The kind of spot that earns loyalty, not hype. The kind of cooking that doesn't need to explain itself. No long waits, open late. Illinois Reviewer 67: "The best part is their spicy powder they make themselves"

“Came here right before getting on a 13 hour flight which in hindsight might not be the best idea before a long flight but luckily I didn’t get a stomachache”
1st time ordering for pick up, Chkn Ramen. Arriving home 5min, the soup was not even hot.

We have been searching for the best ramen in Chicago, came across two really big restaurants and we went to all of them, some of them with really long lines, all of them were either overrated or just good enough not great or not really Japanese ramen, more like fusion(?), this place was the only place we came twice in 3 days, after eating multiple bowls of ramen, I got the white miso ramen, added some garlic and pepper later, either ways is so so so GOOD! So happy to have found a place with the right ratio of salty and umami with the perfect chewiness on the noodles, after so many bowls I'm so glad I found one place that is worth coming back! Also the chef here is really friendly and he knows what he is doing.

Hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Des Plaines! Manager Ty is professional and genuinely cares about his guests. The staff is polite, efficient, and friendly. The Japanese Calamari was crispy perfection, and the Chicken Ramen was comfort in a bowl. I left full, happy, and already planning my next visit.

“Veg Ramen by definition is an oxymoron, yet luckily for some of us starts to show more often.”
Veg Ramen by definition is an oxymoron, yet luckily for some of us starts to show more often. Great to see that the fast growing group of Chicago Ramen offers it too, Surrounded by most of their establishments in the NW suburbs I tried the one 2 blocks from work. Some uncertainty on the broth - the friendly staff cleared out it is neither mushroom, nor kelp dashi, nor miso based ... It was offered as "salt based" - reminded me of the time I almost got kicked out from a soba place in Tokyo for insisting to have the soba with nothing else but shōyu based sauce. So my curiosity climbed a notch. It arrived well packed with fresh and great ingredients over well boiled and tasty noodles. The flavor of the broth came mainly from the oil on top. Hope veg*n. Lot of things one can add - soon I made it hot and spicy enough to get to the level of sweating and sniffing I associate with ramening :-) The atmosphere is great - reminded me of a ramenya in Ebisu - the same classical setting. Unobstructive Japanese music in the background keeping the sound of fire, cookware and the running water on the foreground. Lots of customers and a flow of people coming for their take-outs. Looking forward to check all the other shops they opened in the area, but this one for sure I will be visiting a lot! ごちそうさま

Came here right before getting on a 13 hour flight which in hindsight might not be the best idea before a long flight but luckily I didn’t get a stomachache. Location is pretty close to the airport as well. I’ve been to other location which was smaller and colder temperature wise but this one just has three 4 seater chairs and chairs surrounding the kitchen area. I ordered the Beef Curry Ramen which seems to be a bigger portion size than others for some reason. I really like it. Meat is tender and soup is hearty. They’ve got different levels of spice ranging from No Spicy to Killer Spicy with 4 fire signs on the top of the menu. I went for 1 fire sign and was sweating and face red afterwards but that might just be me.

“Had the best time here.”
Had the best time here. Very solid tsukemen, would get a very good rating even if it’s in Japan. Although I live in dt Chicago and it’s hell of a drive here I’ve been here more than I could count. Super nice staff too!

I ordered the tsukemen at Chicago Ramen and it was good. The broth was rich and flavorful, and the noodles had a great texture. It’s hard to find good ramen late at night, but this place is open until 11:30pm on weekends, which makes it a clutch option when those late-night cravings hit. Definitely worth checking out if you’re a ramen fan!

Surprised to see long line and many people at this place pass 9pm at first but it all make sense after dinning here Mx great price for the value as well. Reman broth is rich and flat noodles are different but not bad and has nice chewiness. The char-shu that came with the broth is more tender; the meat that came with Tsukemen was not as good and a bit dry, not sure if it is because it is sitting out separately. The sides like bamboo and egg are done well too. Food ordered: spicy red miso ramen with egg and Tsukemen w/ pork char-shu

Excellent ramen. I recommend the spicy red miso. The 40 hour tsukemen is also very good and the little bits of pork fat left in the soup are to die for. My favorite appetizer has to be the shrimp tempura. Probably one of the best tempura I’ve ever had from its light airy fried texture to the crunch it has and amazing sauce to go with it.
