“This gem is tucked away in an unassuming Chinese grocery store food court.”
This gem is tucked away in an unassuming Chinese grocery store food court. Ordered Unagi don, Chirashi, and Salmon krudo. All amazing. Unagi don was probably the best I had in recent years. This is miles above the frozen unagi that you can buy from grocery stores. The fish has great texture. The sauce was not overpowering. The rice had little bits of pickled radishes, elevating the whole flavor. Chirashi was about $10 more expensive, but it had many high quality and expensive fish types. Again the rice had bits of pickled radish. Salmon krudo was also amazing. Whatever they did in terms of the flavor, they did it right.

“This place is great.”
This place is great! The sushi is fresh and they have so much variety and options. Have been coming here more than 4 times now. Love their otoro flights and the sushi platter which is great for sharing with friends. This is BYOB and they have a lot of seating. It’s located inside 88 Marketplace

“very pricey but very high quality.”
very pricey but very high quality! probably the best quality sushi I've had in Chicago tbh— you're definitely getting your money's worth quality-wise. everything, the fish, obviously, the rice, and even down to the wasabi and soy sauce, everything is fantastic. I will say that it's strange that this place in inside of 88 Market tho, as typically this kind of store would be more of a casual take-out spot, but this is a "we're going out for a fine dining experience" spot lol.

“10/10 would recommend.”
10/10 would recommend. Some of the better sushi that I’ve had in a long time. It’s good quality, well made sushi which is all it needs to be. Are their fancier places that have twice the menus size, yes absolutely. However if you are looking for a spot that is consistent and genuinely good tasting clean sushi, 312 is the best spot you can hit up. Not to mention the benefit of being able to shop right after.

“Hands down best quality fish/sushi you’ll find in Chicago.”
Hands down best quality fish/sushi you’ll find in Chicago. Is it in a grocery store? Yes. Are the seats kinda uncomfortable? Sure. But I’ve eaten sushi all over the city and nothing has come close to 312 Fish Market.

“Best tasting sushi we’ve tried in the city — excellent flavor and fish portion.”
Best tasting sushi we’ve tried in the city — excellent flavor and fish portion. We ordered the salmon and tuna flights. I’m giving 4 stars on service because it took 35+ mins to receive after ordering (they were backed up from take out orders).

“Salmon Paradise was a 10/10.”
Salmon Paradise was a 10/10. Same with the Salmon Crudo. Can you tell I’m a huge fan of salmon? The sushi here is so fresh and delicious. The only thing I would comment on is that the seating is very limited inside the actual restaurant. The additional seating is in the open of the 88 marketplace mall and lots of people walking by and shopping.

“I’ve been wanting to try this spot for so long, so I randomly decided to get a late dinner and this...”
I’ve been wanting to try this spot for so long, so I randomly decided to get a late dinner and this place is actually located at the top level of 88 marketplace in Chinatown. The menu looked so good, and the special set that I first tried was the aji sashimi set. The fish was of incredible quality, and the flavor had a more raw salty flavor, but it was very subtle. the yellowtail jalapeño sashimi was very buttery. Then I ordered some nigiri, and this was all just melting your mouth just by the heat of your tongue, it was unreal. my favorite nigiri was the uni, this was top 3 for sure.the wagyu was delicate on the salt and was also a repeat for me. The botany ebb was mild sweet and loved the crunchy heads too. then ordered even more nigiri, and really loved the lean tuna here, it was fleshy and soft. The hand rolls were a must order too like the spicy tuna which had a hefy amount of tuna, and the the yellow tail handroll was light and packed to the top. for dessert, the finishing touch was the wagyu topped with caviar and this was also a really solid dollop of caviar. Overall, a top five sushi spot in chicago, very impressed.

“I placed an order Sunday evening through UberEats and my food was prepared & ready for pickup in <20 minutes.”
I placed an order Sunday evening through UberEats and my food was prepared & ready for pickup in <20 minutes. They have a good variety of rolls and other appetizers/entrees on their menu. Their prices are reasonable for downtown Chicago and they accepted a few promo codes through the app (30-40% off, max $15 discount). I ordered the Philadelphia roll ($6 for 6 pieces), Godzilla Special Roll ($17 for 10 pieces), and Firecracker Special Roll ($16 for 6 pieces). All rolls were prepared well, the seafood used was fresh, and everything tasted great. The Firecracker Roll was too spicy for my liking, so I wouldn’t recommend it if your heat tolerance doesn’t go over mild/medium. I would definitely recommend checking this place out if you’re in the area or just craving sushi.

“The best sushi I have had in Chicago.”
The best sushi I have had in Chicago! 312 is located in the charming 88 Market in Chinatown. Despite being located in a grocery store, the space is intimate and feels like its own little world. The fish was as fresh as it gets, if you enjoy spicy I would recommend the Chicago Fire roll. Perfect for a date night or solo dining at the sushi bar.

This hidden gem nestled inside 88 Market Place offers a fantastic dining experience. Whether you prefer the intimate atmosphere of the sushi bar seating or the cozy seclusion of table seating within the grocery store, you're in for a treat. The fish quality is always top-notch, and the service is exceptional. 👌
