“As I ate at this Bridgeport landmark, I noticed many of the early patrons (they have just opened at 4p on Saturday) take their pizza to-go and the person taking their orders knew many of them as regulars”
Pizza was very good and it's definitely a one-stop shop for the local police department to grab tons of pizza from there.
I guess sb was upset bc I asked them not to mess up this order like the previous time and what they do the sent a small when i paid for a medium!!!!!!
$35 for a cold pizza. Who wants to travel all the way back to the restaurant from home once getting home. Not me.

“Chicago native, Italian Fiesta for life, but Phil's is 🔥🔥🔥 10/10.”
Chicago native, Italian Fiesta for life, but Phil's is 🔥🔥🔥 10/10. Whoever said it wasn't is NOT from Chicago. The price is fine - have you had Beggar's, Geno's or Giordano's??? You will be paying the same or more. When I come back to visit Phil's is on the list. I wish you could sell it frozen like Beggar's so I can take it home to Georgia 😋😋😋

“This place serves up the classic and traditional tavern-style thin crust square cut Chicago pizza.”
This place serves up the classic and traditional tavern-style thin crust square cut Chicago pizza. This is very different from the cracker crust za such as Kims Uncle or Novel Pizza. This traditional crust has more chew and holds up to the generous helping of sausage and pepperoni toppings. Well worth the value (medium 2-topping). As I ate at this Bridgeport landmark, I noticed many of the early patrons (they have just opened at 4p on Saturday) take their pizza to-go and the person taking their orders knew many of them as regulars. Impressive!! But as a newcomer, I wasnt afforded such treatment but I am OK with that as long as the order was taken, filled in a timely manner and served within the time parameters told to me. Its a tribute to the freshly made pizza when the roof of your mouth receives 3rd degree burns cause I could not wait to taste this creation to let it cool down. This rating is 100% for the food only!!!

“Went in to order two pizzas and was hoping I could eat them there.”
Went in to order two pizzas and was hoping I could eat them there. The moment I walked in I realized that wasn’t such a good idea. The establishment was freezing, even the girl who was working the front and checking people out had a jacket on. Nonetheless, the pizza was absolutely delicious! Ordered two large pizzas: one “special pizza” & one with sausage, garlic & jalapeños. Definitely can’t wait to go back & order takeout!

I am a tavern pizza enthusiast and I look for a place with pizza that has a thin crust with a good sauce, good tasting sausage and good crust! I love extra extra extra crispy, if it’s a little burnt I’m all for it. I’ve had Phil’s before, a couple of years ago and I thought it was just okay. Perhaps because I had a go-to that was my favorite at the time, but it’s no longer my favorite on the south side. It got bought by a new owner and the quality is 👎🏼 but back to Phil’s. I saw that they’ve been getting a lot of love on social media. So I decided to give them another go. Gotta support the south side spots as a southsider. I ordered the medium Special that consists of sausage, mushroom, onion and green pepper. Yup you guessed it I ordered it extra extra extra crispy. I spent $21 and some change. I picked it up. Let’s start with the crust. For tavern style it is pretty thick, it’s not a bad thing though because I do like variety but I do prefer thin. I attached some pictures and you’ll see that the thickness is about 3 saltines thick. It was extra crispy (I would’ve loved it one more level of crisp lol) and very tasty! I enjoyed it very much. The sauce was flavorful and the sausage tasted fresh and well seasoned. The onion was sliced wide and thin and I loved that! I also love that they stack their ingredients well on the pizza. They don’t hold back and I think that’s great. Was the pizza near perfect for a neighborhood joint? Yea it was. Do I recommend Phil’s? Yes I do! Don’t expect a thin cracker crust though, it is thicker than your normal tavern style. Next time I’ll order it “almost burnt” hahahaha Phil’s if you read this… please offer a thinner crust 😂🤓

“My favorite local spot and not cash only, they took my card just fine.”
My favorite local spot and not cash only, they took my card just fine. Only thing that I personally would change is that the sausage is huge, maybe a little smaller. Other than that cheese is delicious, sauce is perfect and that crust is amazing! Edit: I asked for smaller sausage and they were more than happy to accommodate that request
