Sauce & Bread Kitchen — high-caliber bakery in Devon Avenue. They're doing something different, and it works. Service that's warm without being over the top, and BYOB. Brandon T.: "The pastry spread is gorgeous & the staff was phenomenal"

“You can even buy some rather amazing flavors of hot by Co-Op such as Ramp Finishing -This rich and classy sauce is packed full of sustainably harvested wild ramps for a deep silky finish for all of your grilling and sauteing needs”
Found a hair in my triple ginger snap cookie yesterday after the first bite :( Disgusting and the nitro cold brew had a bizarre metallic taste.

“One of Chicago's best kept secrets.”
One of Chicago's best kept secrets. This place should have a line out the door every day. The pastries and food are incredible and they are constantly putting out new items. I go there often and there's ALWAYS something new and innovative, often seasonal. They have the best croissants I've ever had. One day they're pistachio raspberry, the next its gingerbread mince. Great spot to work quietly on your own or have brunch or dinner with friends. I always bring friends and family from out of town here. Lots of Southern and/or Asian-inspired fare on the food side. They always have fresh flowers on the tables which is a nice touch. Also they have a wall of items from other small local businesses-- great spot to get a last minute gift!

“Make lunch great again, and start here at Sauce and Bread.”
Make lunch great again, and start here at Sauce and Bread. Some of the best sandwiches we’ve had and for very reasonable price. My Reuben was a unique take on the classic with a red kimchi-cabbage slaw and the freshest queso- still thinking about it a few days later. The chef even came out to talk to us about some of their specials and how they make some of their ingredients in house. It almost feels like something you would stumble across on vacation in a place like Saugatuck or Door County. I’m so proud to have this place in the Edgewater neighborhood!

“This place is the most consistent, inventive, caring diner I’ve ever been to.”
This place is the most consistent, inventive, caring diner I’ve ever been to. Since discovering it about a year ago, I have been coming pretty much weekly for my go to favorites. Renatta, Kevin, Mike, anne and everyone there are the most genuine of folks! Don’t sleep on this tucked away gem, it’s worth any distance to enjoy.

S&B is a DELISH local restaurant worth traveling to whenever you’re even remotely near the north side… both their savory staples and rotating menu items hit the spot every time—Mike is the kind of quirky, creative cook you want to be but will never devote the time or energy to become; Anne is a damn good baker… you’ll rarely see the same pastries twice in the case at any time. They care about their food, their community, and their people. What more could you ask for??

Unique place! Looks like a hole-in-the-wall deli and then you are greeted like family. Pastries are out of this world, light and delicious. Gourmet sandwiches delight the palate and please the eye. Lox sandwich on a chewy homemade bagel has a perfect balance of herbs, cream cheese, cherry tomatoes and capers and comes out looking like a work of art. House hot sauces come in an amazing variety of unique flavors from delicate to flaming, all delicious. Local beer is on tap to wash it down. I'm sorry we missed the crawfish boil yesterday. Next time we are in Chicago, we will make a special detour to Sauce and Bread. Love you guys!

“Such a cute casual eatery.”
Such a cute casual eatery. We had brunch and I had the best quiche I’ve ever had which I enjoyed with tons of their house made hot sauce. Super flaky pastry. Insane. Ordered a couple tasty pastries, too! Super friendly staff. Get in here.

This place is an absolute gem and some of the best hot sauces and baked goods you’ll ever have. Their chicken sando and Friday pizzas are fire as well. Mike and Anne have crafted a labor of love and it shows in every bite.

“Wonderfully inviting spot.”
Wonderfully inviting spot! Every dish was so good! You can tell they know what they're doing and care a lot about delivering a quality dish. We tried the banana caramel cake, bourbon date coconut scone, pimento puff, Balkan bun, and sunny foccacia. Every pastry and bread was perfectly baked and delicious. We will definitely be coming back here as soon as we can
