This place was likely had been a bar or saloon back in the day that was converted to an Indian restaurant. It totally gives old school Chicago bar vibe except with Indian menu that is outstanding. All the entrees are nicely prepared with lots of flavors. While the “bar” portion of the name isn’t anything to write home about, this place is still recommended.

*Ordered via Doordash Lamb Vindaloo tasted great. The dal was good. The naan was good. The portions are absurd. The dal was 5.95....i got about 6 oz in an 8 oz container. The Lamb Vindaloo came in 16 oz container, which is pretty standard, but it wasn't full, so that's a problem. I got about a cup of cooked rice with my order, so that was also disappointing. I'd imagine the experience eating at the location is a different one. For delivery, you're rolling the dice. Edited on 8/15/25 to revise to 5 stars from 1. My initial order was a doordash months ago from the original location. The new location is a block from my house. I only order takeout, which I've done three times now. The food is excellent. They have Bagary Baingan! The Biryani is great. The food is just excellent. This is probably in the top three for Indian/Pakistani places I've had. It's like Sheesh Mahal Dhaba from back in the day, before that place declined a bit. Apna is just fantastic.

“I ordered for delivery once.”

I ordered for delivery once. The food was terrific. And today, my friend, her kid, and I decided to come here for dinner. I recommended it to her. My friend and her kid were happy and really enjoyed the food. The staff were really lovely. We ordered Garlic Nan, Chicken Saag, Chicken Shani Korma, and Chicken Briyani for our dinner tonight. Oh, I also ordered Taj beer and it was nice and cold. All the food we ordered were delicious!!! We would definitely come back again.

This food was so amazing I have been craving Indian food for a while and this did not miss my baby brought me here for my birthday and it was a hell of an experience from the paneer pakora to the chicken 65 bruh this had me In a trance and the imported beer legend 10000 I enjoyed it all thank you for the best service and food oh I for got about the bullet Naan oh gooosshhh 10000/10

Stopped in for dinner and drinks and experienced a well decorated restaurant for Mother's Day in addition to delicious food. We tried one of their custom gin cocktails which was adventurous and well made. We also ordered one veg and one non veg set dinner, good value with good variety. Service was friendly and attentive. Loved the Indian music videos that were playing over the bar.

Apna Indian Grill truly made us feel apna (our own) with its amazing food and warm hospitality! The ambiance is vibrant and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a cozy dinner or a fun night out. They also have a full bar, so you can enjoy delicious cocktails with your meal. The ‘Malai Kofta’ is an absolute must-try—creamy, flavorful, and simply divine! And don’t miss their ‘parathas’ soft, flaky, and cooked to perfection. Every dish we tried was rich in authentic flavors, just like homemade. Highly recommend Apna Indian Grill for anyone craving delicious Indian food in Chicago. Can’t wait to go back! 👌🏽🍛

“Our first time here.”

Our first time here! We enjoyed the sampler appetizer, lamb vindaloo, butter, chicken, and tikka masala. We ordered everything spicy and it. It not only had good heat, but we could taste the spices as well. The bar drinks are great as well

“I am so excited Apna has opened in my neighborhood.”

I am so excited Apna has opened in my neighborhood. I have dined in and ordered take out on multiple occasions. My personal favorite dishes are the egg curry, aloo gobi ,chana masala, vegetable biryani, and lental soup. The tandoori roti and naan are always fresh and comforting. The atmosphere in the restaurant is relaxing and inviting. I'm looking forward to chilling at the bar when I have some free time. The food is delicious and the service outstanding! Highly recommend.

So glad to have them in the neighborhood! Food was great. Ordered vegetable samosa, dahi puri (loved), matar paneer, garlic naan and lamb shahi korma...all were delicious, last one was a standout! Took home leftovers. Service was friendly, definitely coming back.

Wow, what a lovely, tasteful dining experience Apna Indian Grill and Bar has brought to the Irving Park Neighborhood. In the past we, have ordered takeout from their previous location several times, but chose to dine in when they opened their new storefront. We were presented with a wonderful, bright, and extraordinary dining encounter which we will surely not be forgetting. It was Valentine's Day and they had the seating set appropriately: many 2 person booths adorned with bountiful decorations. We started with the classic - veggie samosa - which was adequately scrumptious. I got the Lamb Saag and my partner the Malai Kofta, both medium spicy. While I wish mine had a little more heat, we were both more than delighted. Regular and Garlic Naan were perfect for both curries. The service was par for the course, and upon paying for our meal, we were treated to a FREE desert! Can't say enough nice things about Apna and their wonderful food, service, and atmosphere. I'm urging all my buddies to come to Apna, and support this great Irving Park business!
