Venteux Brasserie, Cafe & Oyster Bar — french in Loop. Sleek and intentional, with the aesthetic dialed in. Every plate is composed, not just assembled. Tiffany: "The potato fritters were fresh and crispy, absolutely delicious"

“Genuinely one of the best meals I’ve had in Chicago.”
Genuinely one of the best meals I’ve had in Chicago. Ordered off the happy hour menu to create my own sampler dinner. Loved the steak tartare and oysters but surprisingly my favorite thing was the winter greens salad! Very generous portion and so lovely salty and sweet. My waitress Amber was friendly and great as well!

“Drinks are expensive but happy hour food is amazing.”
Drinks are expensive but happy hour food is amazing. I don't know what happen d with the people that said their oysters had grit. Ours were fresh and delicious and grit free. The steak tartare was a delicious twist. The Brussels and fries were great as was the Coq au vin. We really enjoyed this meal even though the price was high. We had 2 drinks each and with our food it was just over $200.

Good the Duck and waffle and endless Mimosa everything was good was expecting an actual duck breast instead of the formed fried square but it tasted okay.

“Venteux Brasserie honestly surprised me.”
Venteux Brasserie honestly surprised me. I wasn’t expecting it to be that nice. Dim lighting, really pretty space, super calm but still downtown energy. Staff was great too. They kept refilling our water without us asking, which I always notice. I ordered the Venteux burger. Gruyere, frisee, big local tomatoes and garlic aioli. First bite was solid. The burger was cooked a perfect medium, juicy, soft, easy to bite into. The gruyère melted nicely and added that nutty thing without taking over. The tomatoes were actually fresh and thick, not sad slices. The aioli tied everything together, though I did think it needed just a little more seasoning. Not a deal breaker, just a thought. Fries were great. Golden, crunchy and stayed crispy the whole time. The price is a bit higher, but what would do you expect… it's downtown, after all. I most definitely be coming back, honestly.

“We actually went for happy hour Friday night and then back for Brunch on Saturday.”
We actually went for happy hour Friday night and then back for Brunch on Saturday. Friday the bar was busy and we had the steak tartare and $1 oysters which were great! We also got the endless Rosè Friday then bottomless mimosa for brunch. Great deal if having 2 drinks. For brunch I got the egg sandwich and it was spicy and oh so goood and was recommended by the server. It was a great start to our day before exploring the city!

“I went for happy hour, with specials on drinks and snacks.”
I went for happy hour, with specials on drinks and snacks. I had a delicious muddled blackberry drink with my oysters and sliders. The meat was so juicy and perfectly melty cheese. I'm GF and they didn't have a wide selection, so I ate the burgers bunless, which is fine for me.

“I loved this place.”
I loved this place. Excellent atmosphere and delicious menu. I ordered the French Onion soup as an appetizer but it could have been an entire meal! As a main I had the steak frites. The steak was cooked perfectly and was very flavorful. It was a very garlicky flavor, so if you like garlic then it's right up your alley!

“Loved this place.”
Loved this place! The bartender made the night friendly, fast, and knew exactly which oysters to recommend (wish I caught his name… if you’re reading this, you’re the man). I left half man, half oyster, ready to be shucked. I literally had 60 oysters within 24 hours over there. The mass/NE oysters were fresh, briny, and perfectly shucked, paired with cold drinks that hit the spot. Ambience was laid-back chill vibes and zero pretension. If you’re anywhere near here during happy hour, stop in for oysters and a drink. You’ll walk out smiling. Boom.

“Had a great breakfast here.”
Had a great breakfast here! The atmosphere is cozy yet modern - perfect for a relaxing brunch. I ordered the classic breakfast plate which came with sunny-side-up eggs, crispy roasted baby potatoes, sausages, brioche toast, and a side of softened butter. Everything was flavorful and well-prepared. The fresh orange juice was refreshing. Service was smooth.. and the presentation of the food really stood out. I’d definitely come back again - great spot for a slow morning or casual lunch.

“As someone who truly appreciates exceptional dining experiences, I have to say Marcel and his team...”
As someone who truly appreciates exceptional dining experiences, I have to say Marcel and his team at Venteux exceeded my expectations. The steak tartare was incredibly well-balanced—fresh, flavorful, and the standout for me was the foie gras. I’ve had variations of this delicacy in several major cities, and this was genuinely the best I’ve ever had. Rich, smooth, and perfectly executed. The atmosphere is stylish without trying too hard, and the service was just as impressive. Venteux is a gem—Chicago is lucky to have it. I recommend to make a reservation!
