Tuman's Tap and Grill — high-caliber bar & grill in Ukrainian Village. Order the Mussels. Modern space that photographs well but eats even better. G. Patrick Gonzalez: "the rest of the menu isn’t that extensive but who cares because the mussels are the best"

(3/29/24) Carryout. Just left, first timer wanted to checkout their Lenten Fish Fry.
We were looking forward to getting a drink and some food here.

“That’s actually a big reason why we come - we love seeing Joe, Michelle, Mario, Anthony, Sarah, and everyone else there”
“This is an excellent place to eat.”
This is an excellent place to eat. The food is outstanding and not at all what you would expect as bar food. The beer is could and there are lots of choices, even really great gluten free beer! The service could not be better. I can't wait to go back.

“I had an amazing time at Tumans Bar.”
I had an amazing time at Tumans Bar! The atmosphere was cozy, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the drinks were top-notch. Every cocktail was crafted, and the food was just as impressive. I look forward to having that next time. Whether you're looking for a fun night out or a relaxing evening with great company, this place is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back!

“Steak and eggs are surprisingly good.”
Steak and eggs are surprisingly good. I don’t like overcooked scrambled egg but it was perfectly cooked, soft and fluffy. Chimichurri sauce was very pleasant and shined steak. Potatoes were little too greasy but still tasty. I hope fries were crispy, cheese burger was flavorful. Food price was very reasonable but sour beer was little expensive.. it was 10oz $10.

“Solid classically styled chicago bar.”
Solid classically styled chicago bar. Drinks are standard fair with reasonable prices. Food is very good, especially the bahn mi. If you're looking for a neighborhood bar with good food to drop in on, this is a good spot for it.

“10’s across the board.”
10’s across the board! been coming for years. vibes are always great. the sidewalk seating is great, off chicago ave so not a lot of traffic. bartenders and servers always great and friendly. the mussels…WOW. that plate alone will get this place a 5-star review. seriously get the mussels. the rest of the menu isn’t that extensive but who cares because the mussels are the best.

“The mussels and pretzels were BANGIN’.”
The mussels and pretzels were BANGIN’! Generous portions, great quality. Nice tap list and my gin & tonic was well done. The place is always packed too which is fun. The atmosphere is outdated and kind of bland, but I don’t care because this place is a Chicago classic and I don’t always want to be at the newest hipster, gentrified, contrived, trendy bar. Nothing wrong with a humble Chicago pub. Definitely one of the most slept-on spots on Chicago Ave!

“Solid whiskey happy hour on Friday and Sunday featuring the Buffalo Trace rare breeds.”
Solid whiskey happy hour on Friday and Sunday featuring the Buffalo Trace rare breeds. I’ve had two meals here and both were just ok. Their dressings are super watery and it just puts a damper on the whole meal. It is a great place to stop for a drink or two and definitely a step above your typical dive bar. The patio is dog friendly so that’s neat.

“Awesome local spot with huge rotating selection of local beer and great deals on bourbon.”
Awesome local spot with huge rotating selection of local beer and great deals on bourbon. Their food is end to end solid bar food and surprisingly good brunch options. Bonus, they don’t mind my 1 year old roaming the bar cruising for chicks.

“Things haven't changed.”
Things haven't changed. Tuman's is still a great late night bar with an underated menu. Charcuterie platter served with some great sweet and savory pairings. The red wine cheese is spectacular. Need something from the grill? Try the Calamari, wonderfully charred and perfectly cooked on a bed of greens, ask for the pesto on the side. Kids of all ages love the tomato bisque and grilled cheese. Truly outstanding.

“Food was pretty good we got the streak sandwich and fish and chips which was a lent special.”
Food was pretty good we got the streak sandwich and fish and chips which was a lent special. Atmosphere is nice. The place was busy and not enough staff so service was slow. And we got charged an extra $3 to add onions to our sandwich which I thought was weird. Who charges $3 for onions?
