TASTE OF EGG CHICAGO — one of Lakeview's strongest food spots. Honest, uncompromised flavors throughout. Service that's warm without being over the top. Priced right, owner-operated. "The gravies like spicy tufani, spicy dhamaal" — Nina Patel

“I ordered four dishes — Masala Omelette, Masala Half Fry, Egg Bhurji (Red), and Egg Tikhari — and each one was absolutely delicious and unique in flavor”
We checked out this new Indian restaurant that recently took over the former 5411 Empanada space, so it’s a very small location.
Found a new place for egg dishes so thought of giving it a try, to my experience super disappointed in quality, price and taste.

“Taste of Egg in Chicago is a must-visit if you love bold, street-style Indian flavors—especially...”
Taste of Egg in Chicago is a must-visit if you love bold, street-style Indian flavors—especially egg-centric dishes done right. We ordered a wide spread, and every item came out fresh, hot, and made on the spot, which really stood out. The Schezwan Frankie was perfectly spicy with that Indo-Chinese kick, wrapped well and full of flavor. The Amdavadi special sandwich brought true Ahmedabad street food vibes—loaded, spicy, and extremely satisfying. The paneer kadai was rich, well-balanced, and paired beautifully with the fresh rotis and parathas brushed with ghee. You can really taste the freshness when the breads come straight off the tawa. If you’re an egg lover, this place truly shines. The chatni boiled fry and lasan boiled fry were packed with garlic and spice—classic and comforting. The gravies like spicy tufani, spicy dhamaal, and spicy tikhari were bold, flavorful, and unapologetically spicy (in the best way). The boiled egg bhurjee was hearty, well-seasoned, and perfect with roti. Overall, Taste of Egg delivers authentic Indian street-style food, strong spice levels, generous portions, and great freshness. Got just one pic of the food since everything was attacked! If you enjoy spicy food and egg-based dishes with real desi flavor, this place won’t disappoint.

My uncle and I had a wonderful time stopping in for a quick omelet sandwich this morning after a swim at the LA Fitness next door. We tried both a red and green omelet sandwich and the flavor was incredible! Although we were stopping in only for a quick bite, I can’t wait to come back for another meal.

I liked it! I didn't know eggs could be made into such delicious gravies. I liked the sauce based entrees better than the rice, but both were quite good. The servers are very friendly, and chai was great too.

“My apologies for the low quality photos, but we just couldn’t wait to eat.”
My apologies for the low quality photos, but we just couldn’t wait to eat! AND WOW! We were not disappointed. Staff were beyond friendly when we called in for a pick up order. They guided us through choices to really customize our dishes. Each dish has its own spice level choices of 1-5. This is great for individual spice tolerances. The restaurant is clean and welcoming. While we waited for our food to finish up, they gave us our chai to drink. The chai was warm and fragrant. The food was made fresh and packaged nicely. The Bombay half fry was great and the eggs were still runny on a to go order. The singapuri egg pulav was fresh and well balanced spice/seasoning. Overall great place, this will go into our regular rotation.

I ordered four dishes — Masala Omelette, Masala Half Fry, Egg Bhurji (Red), and Egg Tikhari — and each one was absolutely delicious and unique in flavor! What really stood out to me was the quality and ingredients. The food felt light, fresh, and authentic — not heavy, oily, or overloaded with spices. Their breads deserve a special mention too — the tawa roti, paratha, and bhakhri were all made in-house with pure wheat flour. You can really taste the difference! Must try those with your meal. I didn’t get a chance to try the veg options, but I saw other customers ordering them and they looked really tempting too. Plus, the guy and girl at the counter were super friendly and welcoming — it made the experience even better. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for authentic, flavorful food with great vibes! and I am planning for more visits to try other dishes.

“I had a great time at TASTE OF EGG.”
I had a great time at TASTE OF EGG. It's a new restaurant but one that has a lot of potential. All the food tastes homemade and can be customized for your specific spice tolerance. One thing to be aware of is the menu can be difficult to understand if you are unfamiliar with Indian dishes. For example, I was confused sometimes if veg but egg dishes means chicken as I try to avoid meat if I can. Let the staff recommend what to order, you'll eat quite well and enjoy a delicious meal. Also, get the chai!

“Amazing food and hospitality.”
Amazing food and hospitality. They play good Bollywood music and decorate nicely. When you walk up, the owner greeted me and gave so many lovely recommendations. We took all of them, she gave us some bread and cha on the house. Food was amazing. Outdoor seating was refreshing. We’ve had other restaurants of similar genre (such as Eggholic) and the quality is significantly better at a slightly better price point. We got the egg thali and the specialty egg dhamal. Spice level 4 was on point. Would definitely return and I’m recommending to all my friends. Also the bathroom was clean which was nice!
