And yes there was dinner: fantastic, perfectly cooked seabass in a light curry, decent burger & frites, and Cracker Jack beignets (of course)

Went last night and felt like I walked into a snow globe. Close to Gallagher way and wrigley field. The decor was cute and holiday cocktails so yum. All house made pastas and polenta fries were great! Awesome wine list. Nice service.

Mordecai is cozy and has a suave and sophisticated atmosphere. I ordered the swordfish, which was very tender and delicious, and I had a Concession Cola to accompany the meal, which was refreshing and tasted like Dr. Pepper. The service was also excellent. My friend is vegan and the restaurant didn’t have a specific vegan/vegetarian menu, but the staff went above and beyond to accommodate his dietary restrictions.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mordecai – Chicago, IL Visited: August 3, 2025 First time in Chicago, and Mordecai delivered. Let’s start with the food: the burger was out of this world — simple, but done right. Bacon jam, perfectly cooked patty, and those bacon fat fries? Unreal. I’d come back just for those. But then the spaghetti with Spanish chorizo meatballs showed up and took things to a whole new level. Just… damn. Total game changer. Drinks? Next level. Cocktails are super on point. And yes — they serve Malört with white glove service. Didn’t think that was possible, but they pulled it off and made it fun. Service was top-notch. Big shoutout to Erica, the manager. She found out it was our first time in the city and first Malört experience… so she took a shot with us. Straight-up legend. Vibe is laid back, chill, and steps from Wrigley. No pretension, just good food, good drinks, and good people. Would HIGHLY recommend. No doubt I’ll be back next time I’m in town.

Olivia is really wonderful! She made the whole experience outstanding. With that said, the food and drinks are exceptional. This isn't high-end prices, but high-end quality. I had the corn pasta, the incredibly juicy chicken, the popcorn ice cream, and 2 cocktails. Roughly $130 with tip. Really a must-do if in the area. On top of everything, was a great 80's/90's rock soundtrack!

We got the burger, orecchiette, and hanger steak. Each one was delicious. In fact, the burger may be the best in Chicago. The whisky selection is vast and respectable. The cocktails are tasty, too Service was very accommodating and the atmosphere is cozy. Would recommend to anyone, whether you're a cubs fan or not

Went here for dinner before a concert at Wrigley Field. We arrived before our reservation and the staff was super accommodating and sat us early. Our server was super nice and attentive. All of the food we ordered was delicious and I was so sad I got full and couldn't finish. If we weren't going to the concert right after I would have taken my left overs home. If I have the chance I definitely plan to eat here again in the future.

My friend and I were here for cocktails. I believe the hot milk punch cocktail was a temporary menu item but it was aromatic, sweet and delicious! Especially perfect for a cold winter Chicago night. I also would get the hot corner again. Great service!

Unsuspecting HIT! I knew it was going to be good but I honestly was blown away. From the west coast raw oysters to the delicious scallop special and the Cracker Jack beignets, everything was amazing! The only issue was I didn’t have enough space in my belly. Compliments to the chef (Djibril Webb) all around. Our dishes: - West and east coast oysters (half a dozen of each) - bread service with the bone marrow butter and jam (the jam was so good) - sweet potato churro side - peach ricotta salad special - mordecai burger with steak fries (best fries ever) - lobster tagliolini -spicy rigatoni - black truffle ricotta agnolotti -bbq carrot side -cracker Jack beignets (more like donut holes but sooooo good)

Nice atmosphere, great service, food was good. Went here for lunch and ordered the wheat beer, fish sandwich, pepper steak and cheesecake. The cheesecake beer and fries (the dishes side) were great, the fish and steak were okay.

If you’re expecting a grand, sprawling gastropub, Mordecai is going to be a shock to the system—it’s an incredibly intimate space, which is a polite way of saying you’ll be on a first-name basis with the people at the bar whether you like it or not. The proximity of the dining room to the bar makes for a pretty noisy evening, but that wasn't even the biggest disappointment of the night. Despite having a 7:00 PM reservation, they were already out of the nightly special. They tried to blame the Cubs home game, but I’m not buying it; we were there specifically for the Beef Wellington, and its absence cast a bit of a shadow over the rest of the meal. We pivoted to the Sweet Potato Rosti, which they really should just call a latke—it’s a much more apt description and probably a better sales pitch. Since my Wellington dreams were crushed, I settled for the Bone-In Striploin. It was cooked to the correct temperature, but the glaze was surprisingly sweet, and the addition of mustard seeds kept triggering memories of corned beef, which was a bit of a culinary curveball. On the other side of the table, the duck gnocchi was very rich and well-received. Also, a quick tip: don't panic when the roasted carrots arrive looking charred; they are purple carrots, and the dining room is just dark enough to make you question your eyesight. The drink menu is solid, and while the "Extra Bases" was a nice treat, I much preferred the "Cracked Bat" for something more refreshing. For dessert, the Flourless Chocolate Cake is delicious, but the mocha ice cream is the legitimate showstopper on that plate. Service was decent enough, though the timing was a bit off; we had nearly polished off the cake by the time our cappuccinos decided to show up. Honestly, the only way I’m stepping back into this place is if management can personally guarantee me a Beef Wellington next time.
