Steak 'n Egger Inc

4.21,514 reviews ·Open 24 hours

Steak ’n Egger is a beloved Pilsen old-school diner, especially popular for late-night and post-club meals. Regulars rave about the T-bone steak and eggs, Mexican chicken and eggs, steak sandwiches, bacon-and-onion potatoes, generous portions, and homemade apple pie, all served in a nostalgic, no-frills atmosphere. Service can vary, and recent reviews flag inconsistent pricing, mandatory gratuity for groups of four, and occasional kitchen or staff issues.

This is a great, no-frills diner that really delivers on both quality and value. The atmosphere is non-pretentious and has that classic, old-fashioned charm that makes it feel comfortable right away. The food is excellent across the board. The Mexican chicken and eggs plate was a standout, full of flavor and cooked just right, and the slice of apple pie was the perfect finish. Everything feels homemade and satisfying. Portion sizes are massive, easily enough to leave you full or even take some home, and the prices are more than fair for what you get. It is hard to find that kind of value paired with this level of quality. Parking is also a big plus, making it an easy and convenient stop. Overall, this place is a true hidden gem with great food, generous portions, and a welcoming diner feel. Definitely worth coming back to again.

The food looks better than it taste. My t-bone steak was hard as a rock I couldn't even cut it. I sent it back and got sausage they was better. The food was bad it just wasn't great. I may give it one more try not sure.

The food was blah to say the least, but I asked for white bread and got popper nickel or something. My son enjoyed so they get a pass for making him happy, somewhat!

Steak N Egger is probably the best breakfast spot I have found in Chicago. I originally came across it randomly while driving through the area late at night, and stopping here ended up being one of the best decisions I made. The food was good, the service was solid, and the whole place had that real neighborhood diner feel. Since that first visit, it has become one of my regular spots. There are plenty of breakfast places in the city, but this one stands out because it feels consistent, simple, and reliable. It is the kind of place you can come back to over and over without needing anything fancy. Definitely one of my favorite breakfast spots and an easy five stars.
