Shabu Plus Rotary Hot Pot Wicker Park
Shabu Plus Rotary Hot Pot Wicker Park — one of Noble Square's strongest hot pot spots. It gets busy, and that's part of the appeal. Freshness is the baseline here. Maggie Delaney: "The servers were very helpful with making the selection of broths so we went for 2 savory, 1 spicy and 1 sweet" [$$]

“Everything was so tasty and fun! Having never done hot pot before I was a little intimidated but our server explained everything to us nicely and it all made sense. You have to get the ribeye it’s insane. 10/10”

“Walked in before 6 on a Friday, which I’m glad we did because it was not that busy yet. Food was good. I highly recommend the sukiyaki broth - flavorful and delicious. The employee greeted us as soon as we walked in and went over the menu with us. Our server was very kind and attentive. We will definitely be back!”

“I was skeptical but we had really great food and service. It was a lot of fun for all of us.”

“Fantastic experience and the lunch price is very reasonable. It’d be dangerous if I lived here… Will definitely return when I’m back in Chicago!”

“This is my new favorite place. I'm obsessed. I fall asleep at night counting plates on the conveyor belt instead of sheep. I've gotten both the ultimate course and the weekday lunch special. Prices are reasonable and customizable, like you could spend $200 on a family dinner feast with lots of great drinks or $30 on solo lunch. I love the single seating bar area. Service is quick and always friendly. Servers are happy to chat and help out if you're unfamiliar with hot pot. The food is fresh and tasty with many soup and sauce options. Just fabulous. I fully intend on filling out my punch card and coming back for their birthday special. I did once get a shrimp that wasn't completely deveined. I left it to the side without complaint and wasn't charged for leftovers. The staff is very reasonable and accommodating, they just don't want you to over order and waste big portions. My only real complaint is that they have Pepsi products instead of Coke, and charge $3.50 - $4 for a soda. But you get it in a bottle that you can take home, so that's nice. Not worth losing a star over. Just know only water is included with all the course pricing, no matter what tier you pick.”

“Love this place! The experience is so so fun for the whole family!”

“I was so stoked to try this place. I had to add my name to a waitlist for a party of one and they would call me when my table was ready. It was about a 20-minute wait. But then I was seated at the counter next to another single. I ordered the top package which was everything (including all the meats) and dessert. You get 90minutes total and use an ipad in front of you to add meats and it comes via a train. You can also mix your own sauces at their sauce bar. There are some great options. I made my own and tried one of the housemade sauces. The RIBEYE was my favorite of everything I ate. All the food was fresh, easy to cook, and amazing. It doesn't fill you up too quickly so you can try plenty of items. There are something like 60+ items on the conveyor belt to try. Most give you instructions on how long to cook in your hot pot broth. You can get your broth refilled as it evaporates too....and drinks are extra, except for water, which is ice cold and such a welcome treat with one of the spicy sauces I tried. I also had the mango pudding dessert, which resembles a little character...so cute! I will go back and would love to visit with friends to make it more of a social engagement. The service was also TOP NOTCH!!! And don't be intimidated because it's easy -anyone can do Hot Pot - but you can ask for help and they will show you the ropes.”

“I can’t express how wonderful this experience was! Living in Chicago for over two decades, I usually prefer not to eat out, but this was exceptional. You have an hour and thirty minutes for unlimited dining, starting with a broth of your choice and adding meat and veggies to your pot. A train delivers your food, and there’s a rotating bar for you to pick items. You can’t return empty containers to the rotating bar; you must leave them on the table for the server. Cooking takes less than ten minutes, and pre-cooked options are available, too. Expect to spend between $80 and $100 for two people, and the food is healthy and customizable. You can add your tip at the end because it is not included. The desserts are fantastic, and there's a spice bar for extra flavor. The only downside is the time limit and no take-home leftovers; you’ll be charged if you take a lot of food without using or finishing it. It’s OK to have leftovers on the table, but too much will incur an additional cost. Alcohols are a separate fee. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant and make sure to add it to your bucket list!”

“Went to Shabu Plus Rotary Hot Pot for dinner when I was in town a month ago. I can see why this place is so popular. The service was top notch for a hot pot location and the facility was very clean. Meat selections were plentiful and all the meat offerings looked fresh. I also loved how the food came out on the train (the novelty never wears out, lol) On the night we were there, the veggie selections looked fresh, but was a little limited (not a deal breaker). I was also surprised at how many different selections of noodles they had. Soup base was also very well seasoned, as it should be. The dessert was also a nice way to end the dinner and it wasn't too sweet. Overall, a solid option for hot pot in Chicago that would rival any location we have locally in Vancouver.”

“I had the best time at Shabu Plus Rotary Hot Pot in Wicker Park! First off, I was greeted so kindly when I entered the restaurant. The staff is so friendly. I was greeted by someone who was so kind asking me how I was doing. And then once seated someone right away helped me with the tablet to order and they were also were so friendly and asked me how I was doing along with the person who then brought my hot pot broth they also asked me how I was doing. I can’t reiterate enough how friendly and kind the staff were. I loved the sweet potato. I don’t know if it was the sukiyaki broth or my hot pot sauce I made but the star of the show was the sweet potato for me. I will definitely be coming back to this hot pot spot all winter season long and good thing in Chicago that’s long. The lunch deal of $17.99 is great you can’t beat it and they offer stamp cards. They also have a claw machines which I really had to show self restraint in not playing but definitely next time along with their free dessert that they offer!”
