Lao Hu Tong — reliable asian in Schaumburg that keeps people coming back. Sleek and intentional, with the aesthetic dialed in. Straight from the source, no adjustments, and fast service.

“The shrimp noodles were my least favorite but still good”
Very disappointed with both the food and services The wonton is undercooked and salty.
My partner and I were seated upon arrival, but after being seated for around 15-20 minutes, no one came to greet or ask us for water/drinks.

“A good place to eat in this cold weather.”
A good place to eat in this cold weather. A lot of choices. We were early for dinner, so we were seated right away. But around 7PM, there were already a lot of people lining up. So be sure to be early! We liked the food and plan to come back for the other soup dumplings. The crew answers our questions and also explains the food we order. The decor adds to asian vibe of the restaurant.

“This place is comparable to Seattle's Din Tai Fung.”
This place is comparable to Seattle's Din Tai Fung. Which makes it the best the suburbs by a large margin. All of the soup dumplings are off the scale excellent, the Truffle dumplings are especially outstanding. Very classy and modern interior decor, excellent wait staff and I liked the clear view into the kitchen to watch the magic happen.

“Wow, what a lovely place.”
Wow, what a lovely place. Very nice decor, upbeat atmosphere and music, but not too loud either. Stopped in around 3pm, and there were a decent number of people in here already. Panicked a little when I saw the "order and pay here" screen when I walked in, but that must be for take out, cause I was seated right away. Overwhelmed my so many tasty options. Service was wonderful all around. Very helpful, explained things, offered suggestions, but not intrusive at all. Didn't have to wait for anything, but wasn't rushed. I tried the shrimp dumpling seaweed soup, which was delicious and had tons of fresh cilantro. I also had the soup dumpling combo, so I got to try them all. The black truffle and one of the pork ones were my favorites. I can't wait to come back and try noodle dishes and full size soups. I wish they had places like this near me in wheeling! Left in a great mood on a gloomy afternoon. Great place. Turned a blah day out on the road by myself into a pleasant afternoon. I need to come back with some friends!

“The food was absolutely delicious overall.”
The food was absolutely delicious overall! We ordered the chicken dumplings, chili wontons, hot and spicy cucumber, xiao long bao, Hu Tong pot stickers, osmanthus glazed spare ribs, garlic string beans, and jjajang noodles. Nearly all of the dishes were incredible, though the spare ribs were just okay compared to the rest. The food came out quickly, tasted fresh, and the portions were generous while maintaining great quality. Watching the dumplings being made fresh behind the glass added a fun and authentic touch as well. The space itself was cute and very clean, and the staff were incredibly nice and welcoming. There are no reservations—only walk-ins. We really enjoyed our meal and will definitely be returning!

it’s a very nice special restaurant that it does get very busy at the lunch or dinner time we went to For and there was a wait for like 30 to 40 minutes after we went to around 8 o’clock he was still waiting for 15 minutes but the weight was worth it. The food was really nice and then service was great too.

“The ambience is unique.”
The ambience is unique. The food has its own way to find itself win over everything else. Everything is absolutely flavorful with all the natural flavors being cohesive. Chilli chicken is a must try. Sea food noodle soup is also worth trying. There will probably be a bit of waiting in the peak lunch hours, I’d suggest to make a reservation if possible.

“This is truly Stannis.”
This is truly Stannis. So I thought this place was called the ramen house for some reason or another. But regardless I went in, and it went great. I was greeted by a nice young gentleman, and he was able to provide me with the menu. I tried to order through the kiosk but that did not go as well because I like pictures of the meals. I do suggest more pictures as of means of understanding what the menu is since I don't usually do sit-down, restaurants and and more of a to-go person. With that in mind, I went with the fried chicken noodles. I was expecting bigger chunks of chicken, but it still got the job done. In addition to that, I can't really complain about it. I would suggest bringing or asking for more salt or some salt on the side and maybe even some form of a spicy sauce or a chili sauce. I think it can be requested and in addition to that, that's pretty much about it.

“Excellent experience!”
Excellent experience!! Crowded when we arrived for lunch at 1pm on Saturday, the parking lot was full when we arrived and left! Entered my name and number at the kiosk and waited outside for about 20 minutes. They text you when your table is ready. We tried a lot of things and loved them all! Started with the garlic green beans and cucumbers. So fresh and flavorful. Next we had the assorted soup dumplings, the bao buns and the chili wontons. All excellent! The shrimp noodles were my least favorite but still good. Very impressed by the flavors of each dish! Will definitely return!
