“Wow. The hype is real. Everything we had was excellent. Green beans, bok choy, chili wontons, Shrimp soup dumplings and chicken cutlet noodle soup - DELICIOUS. Will be back again this week. 6/23/26 - Adding on to my initial review. I’m adjusting my Service rating down to 3 stars. I’ve been here 3 times total. First 2 times were during the day and everything was great - food & service. Came back around 4:30 today and while the food was really good, the service was not very good. We ordered a LOT. We never had anyone come to refill our water and towards the end of our meal a lady came by to clear some of our dishes and I asked her for a box for our leftover food, and she took some of the dishes that still had dumplings, and she threw them away. 😢 We thought she was taking them to box them up but she never returned to our table - and we still had things on the table that needed to be cleared and no one ever came back. It was kind of strange. Definitely not the same service we’ve had in the past. I will still return because the food is fantastic - I just think you may need to work with your servers and your bussers a bit more.”

“Found this thanks to my fellow Google reviewers. Thank you all! What a great find. So glad we have this gem in the burbs. I will think many times before I head to China town from now on Their menu , variety and flavors are spot on! The decor is tasteful. Had the woodear mushroom , had to be my favorite. Also had 3 types of soup dumplings, chicken, pork and truffle pork. Also had the braised beef soup and the traditional spicy beef soup. Large portions amazing flavors. I will be back!!”

“I tried Lao Hu Tong based on the social media hype surrounding this place. And I am pleased to say that this restaurant lived up to the hype. I ordered the braised beef noodle soup, the shrimp stir fried noodles, the combo soup dumplings, and the mango passion fruit tea with boba. Everything was delicious! The braised beef noodle soup was generous on the beef and the noodles. The soup had a mild spicy kick to it. The shrimp stir fried noodles was good but nothing too special. But the soup dumplings was where this restaurant shines. My sample size is small, but these are the best soup dumplings I have had so far. What makes them so good is the amount of liquid in the dumplings. The restaurant also has an open design kitchen, so you can watch them making fresh soup dumplings. The combo was a good way to try them all. My favorites were the shrimp and crab meat ones. I ate here on a Saturday at 4pm. I was trying to beat the dinner rush, but they were already busy. You join a virtual queue once you get there. It took 30 minutes to get my table. The staff is amazing. Everything is so efficiently done. And they were very courteous and checked on my table frequently. Something else I noticed is that everything there is branded. Their plates, bowls, and even napkins have their logo printed on them. And they have nice thick napkins. Just gave an extra little luxurious feel to the restaurant. I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner at Lao Hu Tong. One of the staff gave me a recommendation for the next time I join them - the pork chili wontons and the Dan Dan noodles. I will be back to try these dishes.”

“Quality, authentic Northern-style Chinese cuisine. Having been to DTF several times around the world, I wouldn't mind going here instead, although the dining area is small, they could easily fill a much larger restaurant with the lines they have. Black truffle and crab XLB were very pronounced and you can see how much they put into each dumpling. Put with Berkshire pork and I have to give them quality advantage over DTF. Spicy chili wontons are also very good and pleasantly different profile with sesame sauce mixture.”

“You HAVE to order the chili chicken wontons. They aren’t spicy even though it says so on the menu. So flavorful!! They don’t take reservations so you have to be added to a waitlist via IPad inside. Do not park in the neighboring business parking lot - they were towing cars Saturday night 2/14. We got mango and passion fruit drinks but we liked the passion fruit one better. The broccoli was super yummy and the soup dumplings were incredible. We will not be ordering the chicken noodle dish next time.”

“fun spot with delicious soup dumplings. I dream about the black truffle. will return”

“Great menu, quick and efficient service! So happy to have a restaurant like this in the area.”

“Amazing restaurant with incredible food and service. The food wss delicious and the staff amongst the best I've seen. Very attentive and accommodating. The price is fair and reasonable despite other comments. We waited about an hour on a very busy Saturday dinner time. Well worth the wait. Will go back.”

“We visited this restaurant yesterday, buzzing with excitement after seeing so many glowing reviews on social media, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with Asian-inspired tones that feel both stylish and comfortable. We ordered the cucumber salad, green beans, beef stir-fried noodles, braised beef noodle soup, and Hu Tong soup dumplings. The service throughout was friendly, attentive, and genuinely hospitable. The soup dumplings were among the best I’ve had, with a beautifully balanced broth that leaned gently salty with a hint of sweetness; the meat filling was well seasoned, and the dough was fluffy yet sturdy enough to hold the soup perfectly enclosed. The braised beef noodle soup was equally flavorful, the beef slightly on the fatty side but wonderfully tender and juicy, with only mild heat despite being marked spicy on the menu. The stir-fried noodles were just as satisfying, with tender beef free of any chewy or rubbery bits. Yet, the cucumber salad surprised me. Instead of the bold, garlicky, spicy, acidic Korean-style version I expected, these cucumbers were milder, slightly sweeter, and tasted as though they had been cured longer in a delicate Asian-style brine. Despite their large size, they were perfectly seasoned all the way through. The green beans were lightly salty, delightfully crunchy, and packed with flavor. They are an excellent side or a snack on their own. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we’re already looking forward to coming back.”

“A good place to eat in this cold weather. A lot of choices. We were early for dinner, so we were seated right away. But around 7PM, there were already a lot of people lining up. So be sure to be early! We liked the food and plan to come back for the other soup dumplings. The crew answers our questions and also explains the food we order. The decor adds to asian vibe of the restaurant.”
