There aren’t any other vegetarian restaurants in Chicago that do it as well as Handlebar. On top of that the Nashville “Chicken” sandwich is hands down the best vegetarian sandwich in the city. (It’s so good I don’t have a picture of it because I eat it to quickly 😂) Hen of the woods mushroom batter fried to perfection. I recommend the gouda mac & cheese side. Here’s the thing about Handlebar- very often places that offer vegetarian food have generic food or when it comes out it looks sad and feels like hospital food or something. Handlebar gets it! They are not like that at all! The food has a “homemade” “home cooked” vibe. I am honestly always impressed. ❤️👊🏼 Picture of the Nashville “chicken” coming soon..

Was looking for a brunch for my vegan mother in law and truly stumbled in here. It is now on my list of new favorites regardless of diet! The best Bloody Mary I’ve had in the city, hands down. The food was unique, flavorful, and saucy in all the right ways. Atmosphere is young and fun, but the music is blaring so don’t go expecting an intimate chat.

Delicious! Good pub fare, plenty of interesting southwest-inspired entrées and a full brunch (or breakfast) menu! The chili was praised highly, and I can personally recommend the burger. There's a hip punk aesthetic to the dining room, open-air kitchen, and a nice long bar with seating. Best of all, nearly the whole menu comes vegan by default (except a small fish section) with dairy options available.

First time going here and my god will I be going back. I got the Vegan Biscuits and Gravy with Tofu. The flavor was fabulous, the tofu perfectly crispy, the portion was generous for the price. I am a very satisfied customer.

Great place to eat when you go to lunch with a vegetarian when you, yourself, are not one! Handlebar caters primarily to vegetarians and they have a great menu to chose from. My go to? The seared tuna. Large piece of tuna lightly seared on both sides with perfectly toasted bread, tomato, and alfalfa sprouts. Overall a great sandwich! Wife went with the Buffalo "chicken" wrap and she loves it! Super flavorful with the perfect amount of spice. Fries came out crispy and hot and were really tasty too. Went on a busy day and got our food pretty quickly. 100% recommend!

Amazing Nashville Hot Fried “Chicken”, side of fries and chipotle aioli. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Will absolutely come back. Appreciated the neighborhood vibe and that you can actually have conversation. Outdoor seating also available.

I'm vegetarian and a wanna be vegan so I'm always looking to try a nice, new spot. This was not far from our rental and hit the spot. The entire staff that we interacted with was extremely friendly and helpful. There were a lot of options and a good variety of options for vegans. And the atmosphere on the back patio was perfect for a family dinner setting. Food was good except my family wasn't big fans of the greens.

Fun neighborhood bar and restaurant with a ton of vegan options! Everything is clearly labeled vegan. Had the vegan breakfast burrito (pictured) and the vegan sloppy joes. Both were excellent but definitely try the sloppy joes! Very nice and quick service. Large outdoor area.

Handlebar's been a mainstay for as long as I've been a vegan eating in Chicago. The dishes are delicious, the portion sizes are appropriate for the price, and there are enough menu options and specials to make each visit unique. The staff is always super friendly and welcoming. I'll definitely be back
