Wonton Gourmet — neighborhood chinese in Des Plaines. Feels like it's been there since before the neighborhood changed. The food tastes like it should, with no compromises. "A Gem, Wonton gourmet serves hot fresh food, and the quality is great" — Donna

“Easily the best Chinese food I've probably ever had in Illinois”
I hate to give a bad review of any establishment but we went for a birthday party and this establishment was the requested restaurant of the birthday girl.
Clean, open kitchen, Reasonable price with average portions and worst service as our first time here.
We ordered Chinese food lunch today at the office and I ordered "Beef w/ Black Bean Chow Fun".

“I've lived in Illinois for over 10 years.”
I've lived in Illinois for over 10 years. I used to love Chinese food when I was young. Over the years I've lost my interest because I felt like nothing lived up to how I remembered Chinese food tasting when I was a kid. I ordered a hot and sour soup, moo shu pork, general Tao's chicken, egg foo young, and potstickers. Easily the best Chinese food I've probably ever had in Illinois. Even better than the food I've had in Chinatown. I will absolutely be coming back and will recommend this location to anyone that asks in the future. The venue and service are mid at best..., but the food more than makes up for it.

“We've gone to Wonton for several decades, even before their "new" location on Elmhurst Road.”
We've gone to Wonton for several decades, even before their "new" location on Elmhurst Road. Today we had Volcano Shrimp, Braised Noodles with Beef Stew, and Sweet and Sour soup. The Sweet and Sour Soup has always been the best that I've had anywhere. We've been pleased with whatever we've ordered. The Beef Stew today was very tasty, but the beef was mostly chunks of fat. I'll still rate everything as Five Stars because of their consistency in consistentlly delivering great food.

“Normally I get the Sweet and Sour chicken here cause I like it so much .”
Normally I get the Sweet and Sour chicken here cause I like it so much . Tonight for a change up I went with Singapore Noodles and a side of Rangoons. Lots of positive review for the noodles. They were spot on. The noodles were great. Very tasty. Shrimp, scallions , peppers, beef, egg and noodles. Not spicy but has a great flavor. Portion almost enough for 2 so good value . If you want something good to try and you look noodles order this dish! I know I will order it again for sure!!

“Overall Thoughts: The “sister restaurant” of the recently closed 7 Treasures restaurant in Chicago...”
Overall Thoughts: The “sister restaurant” of the recently closed 7 Treasures restaurant in Chicago Chinatown, Wonton Gourmet serves up dishes reminiscent of 7 Treasures such as their signature 554 dish and wonton noodle soup. Unfortunately, they don’t have the classic 7 Treasures meat combo dish with crispy pork belly, which was among my favorite things to order there. The prices are also higher than 7 Treasures, though still very reasonable. The service is quick and friendly, and the interior is spacious and nicely decorated. Located next to the 606 bus stop (which departs out of the Rosemont blue line stop), it’s convenient to visit even if you’re coming here without a car from the city. Food I tried: - Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup with Chinese Broccoli (+$2.75) (4.5/5): The wontons are delicious and taste exactly as they did at 7 Treasures. They’re flavorful with thin skin and umami soup, and the noodles soaked up the flavor of the soup quite well. — Price (relative to peers): 4.4/5 Food: 4.5/5 Ambience: 4.8/5 Service: 5/5 Overall Value: 4.5/5

“I live in Chicago, closer to Chinatown than Des Plaines.”
I live in Chicago, closer to Chinatown than Des Plaines. Since I was in the area, I had to check out this place because I heard it was the sister restaurant to Seven Treasures. This place did not disappoint. The wonton noodles were amazing! I had an addiction to wonton noodles since I was a kid so I’ve had them a lot, especially when I go to Hong Kong. The wonton noodles here is pretty comparable. We also ordered the beef chow fun. I love how crispy it is. It was slightly saltier on some of the beef/noods but overall, it was not bad. The yang chow fried rice was decent. Our least favorite dish was the runny eggs and roast pork rice dish.

“Some of the best Chinese food in any suburb of Chicago.”
Some of the best Chinese food in any suburb of Chicago. If you can’t make it to Chinatown in the city, Wonton Gourmet will give you the same food experience. Their noodle soups are worth making the trip. The broth in them is just excellent. You will not be disappointed!

We were in town for a conference and found this restaurant not too far from O’Hare. They serve authentic Hong Kong dishes at a reasonable price. We love the rice noodles with beef stews and the fried rice a lot.

“They have a big parking lot, so parking was not a problem.”
They have a big parking lot, so parking was not a problem. Their service is great. Staff is really friendly and attentive. The place was about 75% full, and we got our food really quick. The tables are well spaced. We got the egg rolls for appetizers. It is a plate of two, and they are good. The hot and sour soup was also good.

“I've been going to this place for over 20 years.”
I've been going to this place for over 20 years. The restaurant was in a strip mall, always overcrowded and quite the wait to get a table. Then they built their own restaurant. The wonton soups are outstanding hence the name of the restaurant 😉 wonton gourmet. The homemade wonton has a very thin wrapper and almost smoky tasting filling. I love the shrimp wonton soup. The other meals are also good but the soups are the signature of the restaurant.
