“Also love the beef pancakes - the pancake part is perfectly crispy”
Bo one acknowledge me I left trying g to order to go and no one speaks English, because I look different, everyone that comes after me is offered and acknowledge with service ,waited for 15 minutes to be help but no one seems to care .so if your not Chinese do t go here .
I don’t understand what they were thinking when they decided to put four dishes, one appetizer, and two containers of rice into a single bag.
This dish has a weird taste and texture - the weird taste is not because of the sauce, but because of the quality of the ingredient.

“Impressive Northeastern Chinese cuisine.”
Impressive Northeastern Chinese cuisine. Arguably the top one in this style I have had in US. Highly recommended: Guobaorou, Tiger veg, Sauerkraut, or just ask their friendly attendants for recommendation!

Do not “judge” ⚖️The Cinderblock-Exterior- it’s what they serve INSIDE- that count’s!💥 The food is pure DONGBEI-Style💯 ( a region in the N. E. of China) Chinese Cuisine. IMHO-THE BEST “LAMB-on-Bone-with-Cumin” sold in Chicago. Try it! Also try the Scallion Pancake stuffed w/ smoked Pork & a dab of Hoisin Sauce appetizer! Jack ( former owner) has hosted several 🎂-Birthday-🎂 Celebrations for my Father (RIP-Pops😔) and made menu-planning and Event Planning/prep so easy! Northern City (now called Uncle Zhang’s Place) = Bridgeport’s best Dông Bei-style Restaurant !

“Food: The best northern Chinese food in the city.”
Food: The best northern Chinese food in the city. Love coming here for breakfast / brunch on the weekend. The youtiao are freshly fried and doujiang is not sweet (you can add your own sugar). Also love the beef pancakes - the pancake part is perfectly crispy. My favorite thing to get here to end the meal is basidigua (the sugar spun sweet potato). It’s a fun and delicious way to end the meal! Service: Pretty basic as is standard in Chinese restaurants Atmosphere: Clean, recently updated with Chinese decor and furniture. There is paid parking on the street outside

“We came here as four people and ordered about seven dishes.”
We came here as four people and ordered about seven dishes. Overall the flavors were good, portions very big, and some dishes stood out. • Sliced beef tenders and pork w. spicy sauce (夫妻肺片): The best dish of the night — seasoning was excellent, portion generous for an appetizer. We even packed one to go. • Shreded potato, the chilly one (尖椒土豆丝): Actually tasted more like sweet-and-sour potato, not really “chilly.” Flavor was fine, just different from the name. • Small combination (小拼盘): Pork head, beef, and Harbin dried sausage. All cured meats, flavorful but quite salty. • Ganbian string beans (干扁四季豆): Traditional and authentic, but a bit salty. • Sweet and sour sliced pork, the vinegar flavor (老式锅包肉): Very crispy, big slices, vinegar taste made it refreshing. Definitely recommend this version over ketchup style. • One pot dish (东北一锅出): With ribs, beans, corn. This one was disappointing and below expectations — I wouldn’t recommend. Service wasn’t great: the waiter seemed rushed, kept pushing us to order, and one vegetable dish we ordered never arrived. Environment was okay, not too crowded. 👉Food overall is tasty and authentic Northeastern style. but skip the one pot dish.

“Hidden gem for Northern Chinese food.”
Hidden gem for Northern Chinese food. The soup we ordered had lots of veggies and tofu. The sweet and sour is different from what you get with American Chinese food. It's is crispy and the sauce is lighter with a vingery tang. The glass cold noodle dish is so good and refreshing. It's in a peanut sauce that is not sweet and works with the noodles.

“Uncle Zhang’s is definitely my under the radar Chinese food spot in the city that is highly under rated.”
Uncle Zhang’s is definitely my under the radar Chinese food spot in the city that is highly under rated. Hands down it is the best Chinese food in the city! The eggplant and the sweet and sour pork out of this world! The fact that no place I have been to makes the sweet and sour pork like they do makes them innovators since it’s hands down the best l dish! Most of the dishes are Cantonese style. So, if you like that style give Uncle Zhang’s a try!

“The Northern Style Clear Noodle was by far my favorite style clear noodle ever.”
The Northern Style Clear Noodle was by far my favorite style clear noodle ever. It was a gracious heaping of cucumber, noodles made from beans (not flour), and was a thoroughly dressed dish. The XiaoLongBao had a bit thicker dough than usual, but the inside was full of broth and delicious meat. The Scallion Pancake sandwiching beef was delicious. It was crispy, had a great mouthfeel, chives were fresh, and the beef was tender. The Sauteed Lamb with Cumin Flavor with Bone was bursting with flavor and was pull-apart-at-the-bone. The tofu dish had the tofu knots so tender and the sauce was light but flavorful. The Pickled Cabbage & Pork Noodle Soup wasn’t to my preference, but it was wonderfully made. The pork fell apart after prodding, the noodles were the right texture, and the quantity was plentiful. Would definitely recommend.
