Moon Palace Express — chinese in Chinatown; the Xiao Long Bao is the highlight. Casual, established, and unapologetic about it. The flavors don't apologize for being bold.

“The Xiao Long bao was delicious, we really enjoyed the sauces that came with it, the pan fried buns had a nice crunchy bottom”
Really bad food experience. Egg rolls were supposed to have shrimp/pork but they only only had mushy veggies.
I've been going to Moon Palace for over 30 years, and ever since the daughter took over.
They don't give you enough meat in your fried rice I ordered 2 different things 1#was an combination fried rice #2an beef and chicken only fried rice both hardly had any meat I didn't understand that it's only was 2 shrimps and like not even an hand filled of meat smdh am pissed 💯🚫.

I ordered the general jones' wings (not spicy), beef chow fun, shredded pork/chives/tofu, and pan fried pork buns. Everything tasted great as expected but the shredded pork was the all-star that I couldn't stop eating. I forgot to take pictures until I already started eating.

“Great food & wonderful service.”
Great food & wonderful service. Conveniently located in the main area of Chinatown. Many lunch specials include soup for $8-$9. Quite a good value. Street parking (metered) available for a couple hours or lots nearby as well.

“Went here w my boyfriend Memorial Day weekend.”
Went here w my boyfriend Memorial Day weekend. We had Xiao Long Bao, the pan fried buns, and the special Shanghai Braised Pork Belly (pictured). The wait staff were friendly and attentive, the place was clean and not so crowded while other places had a long wait. We were not so familiar with Shanghainese food and really liked it. The Xiao Long bao was delicious, we really enjoyed the sauces that came with it, the pan fried buns had a nice crunchy bottom. The Shanghai Pork Belly was delicious! A generous portion, great sauce, bok choy and a generous side of rice. I forgot my credit card there and they were super nice and kept it safe for me. I would highly recommend this place.

“This is a really nice place to dine in.”
This is a really nice place to dine in. The staff might seem rude at first, but they are actually very nice and will answer any question you ask about the menu. It's a small location and the aesthetics of the restaurant are very pleasing. The food is really good and they give out generous portions as well. Nearly everyone in our group had to get a box for leftovers. 5/5 Would eat here again.

Fantastic little place with nice ambiance. Simple menu, and large portions. The soups are top notch, and they serve plenty to share! Yummy Martini's too. Try the Lucky Buddha beer!

“I really enjoyed this place to eat.”
I really enjoyed this place to eat. Service was quick. It was not full of people so I can comment on how it is during rush hour. But drinks and taking our order was quick. We ordered the hot and sour soup, General Tso's Chicken, Chicken Chow Mein, and the potstickers. Everthing was really good! But be careful because everything comes oit really hot! Blow on your food. The potstickers are really big and delicious. The chow mein was a little different than expected and was the least favorite. We expected soft noodles but this chow mein was like toasted cup o noodles with the chicken, bamboo, broccoli, and sauce on top. I wouldnt order this plate again. The General Tso's was good but I would have liked to compare it to their orange chicken. Can't beat their location! Right in the heart of Chinatown next the the fire station. Take your Chinatown tourist picture in front of the famous entrance gateway and then a few steps to the restaurant. It shouldn't disappoint.

My hobby and I love soup dumplings but couldn't find a place in Chicago which serves them. Finally we could find Moon Palace located in China Town. They have a very tasety dumplings and I totally recommend trying them. We tried couple other dishes and overall the quality of their food is above most of restaurants in that area.
