Jonny’s Claypot Rice阿力煲仔飯 — a quiet chinese spot in Chinatown with a growing reputation. Feels like it's been there since before the neighborhood changed, and good value. Eric Lao: "The sausage was savory and slightly sweet, balancing beautifully with the soy sauce drizzled on top"

“We tried the Chinese sausage claypot rice, which came sizzling hot with that perfect crispy bottom layer of rice that makes claypot so special”
I ordered the vermicelli with roasted duck, which used to be much better in the past.
Wasn’t able to order online because the website automatically puts in 20 portions of the bbq pork/duck clay pot rice.

“Hidden inside a Chinese supermarket, this spot is a true gem for comforting and affordable claypot rice.”
Hidden inside a Chinese supermarket, this spot is a true gem for comforting and affordable claypot rice. For just around $30, we enjoyed a full meal without needing to worry about tips — amazing value! We tried the Chinese sausage claypot rice, which came sizzling hot with that perfect crispy bottom layer of rice that makes claypot so special. The sausage was savory and slightly sweet, balancing beautifully with the soy sauce drizzled on top. On the side, we had a plate of blanched Chinese greens with oyster sauce — fresh, vibrant, and a nice contrast to the rich rice. The meal also came with a simple but warm and satisfying soup, which felt very homey. To top it off, we ordered crispy pork belly, which had that beautiful crunchy skin and tender meat underneath. It paired really well with the dipping sauce provided. Overall, the food was delicious, filling, and reminded me of classic home-style Chinese comfort food. Definitely a place I’d come back to again and again for a casual and satisfying meal.

Authentic and affordable claypot rice in a supermarket. Soup that came with the rice was homey. Expect street food style service and food.

“Best clay pot rice I’ve ever had.”
Best clay pot rice I’ve ever had! Rice is crispy but not burnt and protein is well seasoned. The complimentary soup served at the beginning was also great. Definitely a hidden gem to check out!

“Located inside the Park To Shop Supermarket on Canal St, this hidden gem makes delicious claypot rice.”
Located inside the Park To Shop Supermarket on Canal St, this hidden gem makes delicious claypot rice. It’s the definition of a hole in the wall restaurant as it’s tucked in the back of the store. The claypot rice is made to order so be prepared to wait ~30mins. The crispy rice at the bottom and good meat to rice ratio was worth the wait. Highly recommend. Note: The workers have limited English, but the menus have pictures. This place has a parking lot with lots of free parking.

“They give you so much meat for $10.”
They give you so much meat for $10. The rice at the bottom is super crispy and the flavors are on point. Tip: I thought they were closed originally. You have to go into the supermarket and turn left. That's where the restaurant and bakery is.

“Been looking for a place that does Claypot rice in Chicago.”
Been looking for a place that does Claypot rice in Chicago. Heard about this place on Tiktok and had to check it out. You order at the counter, but pay at the grocery store's cash register, then bring the receipt back to the counter. They have various toppings for the rice. The rice comes out perfectly cooked and crispy on the bottom. The dish was very yummy! Will definitely need to come back!

“I don't normally give 5 stars but this little hole in the wall definitely deserves it.”
I don't normally give 5 stars but this little hole in the wall definitely deserves it. I might be biased because I just love claypot rice. We go to Toronto every year just for the claypot rice but now I guess I can get it in Chicago! The restaurant is inside the grocery store with free parking outside. Price is reasonable and there are a few seatings. We came on a Sunday at around noon and it was not busy at all. You have to place your order with the gentleman, take your order out to the cashier and pay. Then come back and show the gentleman your receipt. No big deal at all. It does take a while for the claypot rice but we already knew that coming in. They give you a complimentary soup and that was yummy. But the rice. Guys! The rice is phenomenal! They also give you this soy sauce in a tea pot so you can pour as much or as little as you like. The veggies was good but don't forget to scrape the rice that sticks to the claypot. THAT IS THE BEST PART!!! The chefs was nice and afterwards you can do your grocery shopping! What is not to love!!!

Located inside of the Park to Shop Market (previously Richwell Market). Small stand to order from, with a few tables to sit at. Various flavors of Bo Zai Fan, along with barbecue and other sides. Workers don’t speak much English, but are very friendly.

“A restaurant inside a grocery store, ordering process is a bit complicated, but not a big problem,...”
A restaurant inside a grocery store, ordering process is a bit complicated, but not a big problem, need place your order then pay at the grocery store check out and bring the receipt back to the chef. Decent price for the quality and value. Took about 15mins to get my order and I can see the whole process of my food being processed. Got the hot pot sausage caliper, another one with spareribs (each clay pot came with complimentary soup), and Chinese Gailan w/ oyster sauce. Love the the crispy rice bottom, the meats are flavorful. The rice is only very lightly seasoned, but there is soy sauce on the table that you can add. Recommend getting the one with spareribs, would love to try other ones next time. This place also has delivery service, and rice is cooked in foil bowl.

“It’s a clay pot restaurant inside the Park to Shop super market.”
It’s a clay pot restaurant inside the Park to Shop super market. Still a bit manual payment process. Order at the restaurant and pay upfront at the cashier (grocery store) It’s a go to for clay pot rice. They added porridge and noodle selections to their menu. But clay pot is a must try, the bbq clay pot is always my favorite.
