“Loved it! Ingredients were fresh and cooked to perfection. Nice and peaceful atmosphere so delicious and filling, great customer service.”

“Since I came in almost right after opening, there were no other customers when I first came in to dine in. I had the Sichuan jelly which was refreshing but it had a tangy and spicy kick to it. I also had the dan dan noodles which was delicious and flavorful since the sauce blended into the noodles and the meat pretty well. Also, the time to get the food after ordering was relatively fast since I didn't have to wait very long.”

“I transcended. My friend blacked out. My other friend exclaimed “I’m about to bust!” We grew a third stomach. We wanted good Chinese food, and that’s what we got. Scrumptious, delectable, tantalizing…. A spread that would bring even the most critical of food critics to tears. Forget MCCB. Forget the other places you found off of Instagram or TikTok. Go here, to Dongpo Impression. It will certainly leave an IMPRESSION on you (haha). Edit: ordered the broccoli beef, cucumber salad, Szechuan diced chicken, scallion pancake, pork short ribs, dry spicy chicken, Szechuan string beans, and a fish fillet w soft tofu. Personal faves were beef and broccoli, scallion pancake, and the cucumber salad, but everything was divine.”

“Very good green chilli egg plant, mangolia beef, and dan dan noodles”

“YUM! the dry chili chicken was top-tier & the twice-cooked pork w/ leek was similarly unbelievable. this joint is a hidden gem!!! believe the hype! was unassuming & required no wait, got seated right away & enjoyed every bite!! FANTASTIC!”

“Great food. Dongpo pork was especially incredible, but all the dishes were delicious. Our waiter brought a little side of pickled cabbage, which was so delicious I considered asking if I could buy it in bulk. Competitive prices and quality eats.”

“A very chill and calm atmosphere with excellent food and excellent service as well. The dongpo sausage is delicious and the crab rangoon is probably the best I have had.. the Dan Dan noodles were excellent spicier than I expected but I don't mind that”

“After 8 years of trying restaurants in Chicago, I can confidently say that Dongpo Impression is my favorite. It is also a favorite among multiple of my friends who hail from China. If you’re dining in and can eat it fresh, you have to try the dry chili eggplant, which makes you rethink what eggplant can be. It is unbelievably crispy with bursts of salty, savory, and spicy flavor in each bite. The green peppercorn fish, Meizhou dry chili chicken, and green beans are also delicious. The restaurant is clean and not too loud, and it’s usually easy to walk in and find a table even for a large party. They also validate parking. Over the years, the quality of the food here has been consistently excellent. My impetus for writing this review now is a positive experience ordering catering for a group of 30. The process was hassle-free, with the person we spoke to assuring us we could even update our order the morning of. Everything was packed efficiently and securely into high-quality reusable bags, and utensils, plates, and napkins were provided as well. They were also able to accommodate dietary restrictions, including no peanuts or pork. Finally, we had to request a milder spice level for some members of our party, and they accommodated this too while still making the dishes perfectly flavorful and balanced. The price was reasonable for catering (it’s the normal menu price and there may even be a discount) and the portion size was great—we had a lot of leftovers at the end.”

“The best Chinese restaurant I tried so far in town. Very authentic and delicious food.”

“The Dongpo braised fish is amazing, very numbing beware :) the dry chili rabbit and twice cooked pork are also good. Definitely recommend”

“Very authentic dongpo dish. I am very impressed by it. Friendly staff and great atmosphete too. The store owner must be born between 1980s-1990s . They broadcast all the songs i listened to while in high school/college.”

“Dong Po in Chinatown is hands down some of the best Chinese food I’ve had, and it’s super affordable. It was my first time trying lamb from a Chinese spot and wow, the cumin lamb is fire. Everything we’ve had here has been really good. Whenever I’m craving Chinese food, I’m not going anywhere else but here. It’s definitely worth the drive. The food comes out fast, always fresh, and the prices are great. On top of that, the workers are super friendly which just makes the whole experience even better. Highly recommend!”
