“I would suggest they cut thin slices of chicken and not risk people getting sick because of the large pieces that are being undercooked and these entrees I've had the chicken with broccoli and egg drop soup from here first time visiting and it was so delicious, best that I've had”

Updated: the food is very good at this restaurant. My only concern and it is a very alarming concern and I hope that the owner of this restaurant will read this is that the chicken slices that they put in their chicken with broccoli and perhaps in the other chicken dishes is such a large chunk of chicken that one time the chicken was undercooked. I didn't realize it until after I ate it and I received salmonella or some type of food poisoning because eating raw chicken can be very deadly. and the piece of chicken that I bit into was larger chunk of chicken than the other pieces of chicken that were in the dish. The size of the chicken pieces is impressive but on the second occasion I ordered the chicken with broccoli and the chicken was almost kind of pink on the inside again. So I would imagine that they are a lot of people who are eating this chicken with broccoli and perhaps other chicken dishes that are possibly getting sick because the chicken is undercooked. First time ordering from here. My usual place recently changed changed ownership. After giving them a try 3 times, the quality went from fair to good to terrible. I've tried 4 or 5 new places each with the same bad results. That was until I tried Hunan Star. Every dish, without fail, was fresh tender and tasty. I believe the food was made fresh to order. The chicken in the Orange Chicken was tender and moist, not dry and stringy like I have had else where. We got 8 different dishes and each one was different and delicious. This is my new and only place for Chinese food. I live in Glenview, this is a bit far from me, but it is worth the drive!!

Hunan Star is hands-down my go-to for takeout in Evanston. The phone is always ringing off the hook and yet they always get the orders out fast, hot, and exactly right. The Wonton Soup and Orange Chicken are the best I’ve had in town. Super flavorful, great portions.
