Happy Lamb Hot Pot
Happy Lamb Hot Pot — a Chinatown chinese mainstay. Nothing about this place is trying to impress you, and that's the point. Hospitality you can feel from the door. Yuan Xu: "It had a rich and flavorful base that perfectly complemented the fresh ingredients" [$$]

“To say everything was good would be an understatement, because it was truly excellent! We tried this place during our trip and were delighted. Everything was very fresh and the service was outstanding. In the end, we ate until we were stuffed; it was 100% worth it. The only thing that could be improved is the cleanliness of the restrooms, but that doesn't detract from our overall satisfaction.”

“loved it! food was good, vibes were good, and the service was amazing! would definitely come back here again if given the chance to!”

“First time in Happy Lamb and it did not disappoint me. My family decided to have our lunch one weekend and I chose this hot pot place in Chinatown. It’s affordable and the food is great. I tried the combination of spicy and original broth. I love the variety of it. I picked their classic meat and it’s just right. We leave the place fully satisfied. I highly recommend it.”

“If I can give a hundred stars to this establishment, I would! We accidentally discovered this restaurant and was surprised that their meat is Halal. We had to bring the whole family for Valentine’s Day because we cant stop rambling about how good their food is. Leasar is the one who served us and she is the most reliable and friendly staff there is. We cant wait to go back and have their famous fried lamb shank.”

“The waitress was so sweet and the food was truly one of the best hot pots ive ever gotten. The meat was great quality and the broth was amazing.”

“Amazing experience as always! Service is great, these prices are definitely a rare find in Chicago, strongly recommend and always look forward to coming back!”

“Definitely bring a big group because they give you a lot of meat. The lamb is halal (confirmed by staff). They separate the types of broths for you based on vegetarian/dietary preferences. Very hospitable service and there no rush to get you in and out. Make a reservation because the wait can be long but there’s other places in Chinatown you can visit while you wait!”

“Let me just say this place needs serious help, starting with the staff and the food. The staff looked completely lost. Every time I asked a question, they stared like I had just asked them to solve a math equation. No urgency. No attentiveness. The waiters and waitresses only seemed interested in tables where they knew people personally. Everyone else? Invisible. They barely checked on us, so it’s honestly bold that they expect a tip. A tip for what walking past the table and breathing? Now the food… absolutely disgusting. That may sound harsh, but it’s accurate. It tasted like the meat wasn’t properly cleaned or prepared. The presentation alone was enough to lose your appetite. I’ve had better quality from a gas station at midnight. When I tried to complain, suddenly no one seemed to understand English which was interesting, because I clearly heard them speaking it just fine to other customers. The selective confusion was impressive. To make it worse, I saw gnats and flies in the bathroom. If the restroom looks like that, I don’t even want to imagine what the kitchen looks like. Overall experience: awful. If zero stars were an option, that’s exactly what this place would get. Unfortunately, the app forces you to give at least one so consider that star a donation for you.”
