Genuinely one of my favorite breakfast places and lunch foods i have eaten. I have been to miami calle ocho and had cuban in many places, and this restaurant n stands up to them all. The bread is perfect wherever you get get some bread. The cortadito and cafecito are perfect.

“I used to come here a lot in college but haven’t been back in 10 years.”

I used to come here a lot in college but haven’t been back in 10 years. It still lives up, ordered the Ropa Vieja sandwich which is a slow roasted steak with sweet plantains. It was so good. Also ordered a small bean soup, it was lacking flavor. It definitely needed more salt. But it came with a side of warm bread that was awesome. I definitely can’t wait to come back and order more sandwiches!!

Great ambience, nice Cuban music playing. The ropa vieja was amazing, great combination of flavors with the plantain, meat and beans.

“Great staff and great food.”

Great staff and great food. I had the steak and egg sandwich. It was very flavorful. I bought rice & beans as a side and it was a little lacking on beans but overall flavor was great. The cortadito and cuban coffee were both delicious as well. This place like most others stay busy! So plan accordingly. Limited seating so we ended up eating down the streat in the park.

I’ve been enjoying Cafecito for over ten years, and it continues to be one of the best hidden gems in Chicago. The food is consistently excellent, the prices are fair, and the atmosphere feels welcoming whether you’re stopping in quickly or sitting down for a meal. Over the years I’ve tried just about everything on the menu, and it’s all been flavorful and fresh, but my favorite remains the Cubano, perfectly pressed, balanced, and always satisfying. Cafecito delivers the kind of quality and reliability that keeps you coming back year after year. A true Chicago staple.

“Sandwiches were phenomenal.”

Sandwiches were phenomenal! Both Jerk sandwich and Costa sandwich were delicious and well balanced with PLENTY OF MEAT! Prices were also very reasonable! Although, bathroom situation was a bit bad. They had one bathroom and the line was too long at times.

I visited Chicago back in 2020, and for the past five years I’ve dreamed about the Cuban iced coffee from Cafecito. I’m happy to report that it still holds the title of the BEST iced coffee I’ve ever had in my life… simple but absolutely flawless. The Cuban sandwich was also delicious, making this such a great little spot to escape the heat and grab a quick, satisfying bite. Love this place!!!

“A cute destination.”

A cute destination. Cuban rhythms coming through speakers fill the air with a festive feeling. You wait in anticipation of an exotic meal. It comes and it does not disappoint. My meal was delicious. The flavors of the food were there with every mouthwatering bite. They do breakfast, coffie, sandwiches, and have pastries as well. Certainly worth your hard earned dollar. I think you'll enjoy.

Food was fantastic, great portion size for the sandwiches. The plates were also great. Cafe con leche pleasantly surprised me, almost like a light latte. Would definitely go again and try a sandwich and coffee. Bathrooms are a bit dirty though and service could be slightly more approachable
