Bayan Ko — one of Ravenswood's strongest caribbean spots. Everything about the room says stay awhile. Good cocktails round out an already strong menu. Solid veggie options, BYOB. "The lumpia was crispy, flaky and perfectly paired with their sweet chili sauce" — Yessenia Navarro

I like their diner food even before they moved their regular menu from the main restaurant to the diner.

“wonderful ambiance and absolutely yummy food - even the vegetarian options!”
wonderful ambiance and absolutely yummy food - even the vegetarian options!! the drinks were also soo pretty and delicious!! great for a date night or intimate girls night. we got: drinks: cafe con leche, the beautiful yellow drink (I don’t remember the nameee!) food: mushroom empanadas (warm, flaky, crusty, flavorful), Ginataang gulay (like a veggie curry) - we added chicken on the side (it was seared well and had good flavor too), and we finished w/ the saffron cream cheese flan (basically the thickest cheesecake ever - yum)

All the dishes were super flavorful and I was quite full by the end of the 7 courses! One of my favorite tasting menus in Chicago, standouts for me were definitely the lobster + octopus!

We visited during our trip to Chicago and the food was phenomenal! The 7 course tasting menu had great flavors and original dishes, with some nice wines to go with them. The owners are lovely and service was great!

Whewww you know when you find a neighborhood gem? 💎 Sat down for the final day of the 5-course tasting. Everything was good, but the lobster rice and the Wagyu did it for me. So rich and deep in flavor. I drooooooled over the plantain puree and they brought me a lil cup with the bill. 😂 very fun staff— Alfredo & Kyle made my night such a joy. The dessert was decadent, probably added to my top 10 global desserts. I’m not a huge fan of hazelnut but the texture on that bibingka was otherworldly. I cannot wait to try out the diner.

Everything was fantastic, but the standouts for me were the pugita (octopus dish), which had just the perfect balance of flavor and texture from the fingerling potatoes, and the arroz caldo, which had so much flavor imparted by the lobster. The bibinka was also a delectable end to the meal, especially when paired with a coffee.

“We had a great experience at this place.”
We had a great experience at this place! The tasting menu is inventive while reminiscent of familiar flavors. I cannot recommend enough the Octopus adobo! Adobo is a staple dish in my house but this just takes it to a whole different level. I also never knew I needed lobster on my Arroz Caldo. What a treat! Tasting menu is $95 per person, for a 5-course meal. It’s an intimate experience and very accessible by public transportation.

“Amazing 5-course tasting menu blending Filipino and Cuban flavors.”
Amazing 5-course tasting menu blending Filipino and Cuban flavors. Each of our dishes were complex layers of flavors woven into an amazing experience. Cooking techniques were spot on. All three of us had a different favorite dish (arroz caldo / octopus / dessert). Service was attentive and courses were well paced. Good sized portions and attractively balanced plates. Very enjoyable experience! My only (very minor) critique is that our menu was entirely very rich dishes - would have liked one lighter course. Note: Reservations only, no walk-ins

“A friend recommended Bayan Ko’s tasting menu highly and it didn’t disappoint.”
A friend recommended Bayan Ko’s tasting menu highly and it didn’t disappoint. The regular menu started with (1) lobster and quail egg and (2) octopus — both really delicious! The vegetarian menu was similarly great. Overall, fantastic.

Tried the dinner tasting menu and everything was a hit! Photos won’t do any justice especially with the flavor profile. The Adobo octopus was my favorite. Small place and super intimate! Will definitely come back and try the lunch items.

“The food was really good.”
The food was really good. A lot of it had a smoked flavor which I normally don't like but it was light and delicate. Wine pairings were superb.
