Not super impressed. We’ve been trying all the bagel shops around chicago & this one fell flat.
Typical deli, over priced and kinda rude. Maybe it's because I'm black.
So, I’ve lived in this neighborhood for some time but have never made it out to this deli but I was in the mood for soup and a bagel, so I stopped in.

We went here for lunch today on my birthday and had a great experience! We got two sandwiches (A Reuben, and a Turkey/Roast beef with spicy mayo) to split with egg salad on the side and everything was amazing!! The owners were funny and so kind, we will for sure be back to say hi and try more

Helfeld’s is arguably one of the best Jewish Deli’s in Chicago. They have simple menu with a lot of deli classics that they are experts at making. My go to here is the Pastrami & Corned Beef combo. It comes absolutely loaded on rye with some mustard. Again, simple, but perfectly executed. The owners are also great, super friendly and always willing to give you a recommendation if you can’t decide what type of sandwich you want. Definitely worth a stop in if you’re looking for a great sandwich in Chicago!

They offer many cold salads, sandwiches, bagels, and shmear. I visited from a town without any existing Jewish delicatessens, so I was happy for the basic ambiance and inviting flavors. I really liked the whitefish salad, and it went perfectly on my everything bagel.

We have been coming to Helfeld’s since they opened and beyond the amazing food (lox and bagels are to die for) the owners make this place even more phenomenal. The father daughter duo clearly loves what they do and it shines through in their food. They are featured at the Holocaust Museum’s “I’ll have what she’s having” exhibit which goes into the history of Jewish Delicatessens and their importance in America. The lox and bagel here is the highlight of our week!

Dropped in to get the Lox Bagel and this was a decent sandwich overall. I got it on a plain bagel, with everything on it. The bagel was kinda hard to my liking but the salmon was delicious. 8.3. I will tap in again to try other options especially their Rueben I saw a guy order two for breakfast 😅...it must be good. Customer service was good the man working was super nice and helpful. ***Update *** I got Rueben this time it's a pretty decent size sandwich with a good amount of corn beef. Overall wasn't a bad sandwich but not over the top either for me was 7.6. I also got the Kifer Baum which is Turkey pastrami, giardiniera, and mustard on rye. The sandwich is packed with meats and the giardiniera adds the spicy kick that I like. The only thing I might change is to add mayo but other than that it was a very good sandwich 8.5.

Ordered ahead and everything was ready to go. Delicious bagels and lox! It's been hard to find good bagels in the neighborhood and these are excellent. Get the mish mosh.
