“I first tried Banh Mi Ong Muoi when my boyfriend brought one home for me, and I immediately fell for it. It’s a bit of a drive for me to get there, but honestly, it’s completely worth it. On my visit, I ordered their special banh mi, and every bite showed real care and intention. The chả was perfectly marinated, the pâté rich and flavorful, and the mayonnaise especially stood out, so good that I asked if they sold it. They don’t, but the owner’s wife kindly packed me a container to take home for free, which says a lot about how friendly and nice they are. To me, this is the best banh mi in Chicago, even better than Ba Le or Nhu Lan. The balance of flavors and the quality of each ingredient reminded me of the iconic Huynh Hoa banh mi in Saigon. *I had it out for a picnic, that’s why it’s on the grass lol*”

“Absolutely incredible. Everything I ordered was delicious. Their banh mi is the perfect balance of airy and fluffy, and the meat is seasoned to perfection. The pate is a standout! I’d honestly argue it’s better than Nhu Lan! While most people seem to grab to-go, it’s worth stepping inside just for the smell, it’s heavenly. I chatted with the staff and learned they bake the bread fresh in-house; the owners arrive at 2 AM every day to start the bake and you can tell!”

“Ever since I went to Vietnam for two weeks last year, I crave Vietnamese food and always want that flavorful freshness that was so prevalent across the country. I had the crispy pork bahn mi and it was spot on—just like being on the bustling streets of Hanoi and Saigon minus all the motorbikes and noise. I didn’t think my bahn mi needed extra pate or mayo or meat but I like that you can ask for it if you want more. The Vietnamese iced coffee was also tasty, sweet, and robust. The store is very clean, has plenty of comfy seating options, and the sandwich came out very quickly (maybe 3 minutes?). So glad to have this new place nearby!”

The 3 sandwiches we ordered (roast pork, ham, and grilled chicken) were nice and fresh and it’s great how they package the pickles separately so your sandwich doesn’t get soggy. The banh nam was like a tamale and really tasty — first time having one! Also love that they’re open early so we can have an alternative to the usual breakfast sandwiches at like Panera McD’s. Will definitely be back. Glad to have them in the area!”

The fact that they pack the veggies and pickles separately to keep the bread crisp shows they know what they're doing. As expected, their bánh mì and cà phê game is on point: no frills, affordable, and delicious. Honestly, there’s little more you could ask for.”
