Ann's Bakery & Deli — straightforward bakery in Ukrainian Village. A holdout in the best possible way. The flavors don't apologize for being bold. "Best place to eat a hot Ukrainian meal and plenty of varieties of imported goods, fresh and great meat section" — Sg-O I

Nice place but the food is very heavy for me and the bakery. The worker were very pleasant.

Great Ukrainian store. You can buy different food here: buckwheat, dumplings, sour cream.

“I usually like to read reviews before going anywhere, to know what to expect.”
I usually like to read reviews before going anywhere, to know what to expect. But this store contradicts almost every review here. This is by far the best Eastern European store in the Chicago area. The store itself is clean and they have a good selection of everything ranging from sweets to fresh produce to cooked meals! The staff are all absolutely amazing and incredibly kind to everyone. They helped me out more than once and take their time explaining and suggesting different items and dishes. The cooked dishes, both warm and salads, are delicious, fresh, and taste just like home! 100/10 recommend!!

Grocery and deli with counter service, a hot bar, and fresh baked bread. It may seem a bit cramped but the stuff they carry is good and some of it you can't find easily. If you're looking for imported Eastern European this is absolutely a must go.

“Nice little store, with great choice of Armenian products.”
Nice little store, with great choice of Armenian products. Also Mr. Ivanov, in the comments, has no issues with products from Azerbaijan (literally the Russia of the Caucasus) I'm assuming?

Buckwheat, fermented food, dried fish, and very tasty cooked food. Try borsht! Broad range of Eastern European products. They make fresh pastry and dessert on site, I was surprised, merely amazing.

“This bakery has been a stable in Ukrainian Village neighborhood for the past 60+ years.”
This bakery has been a stable in Ukrainian Village neighborhood for the past 60+ years. Recently I was informed of this bread they only make on Saturdays and Sundays. Don't know the name. But was told to ask for the bread that uses no yeast and is made only on weekends. I purchased the 2 pound loaf which costs $6.00. Hearty and delicious. Went at 9 a.m. Saturday and they were just beginning to slice the bread and package for purchase. My new go to for bread.

I always love this place for my pierogies and other wonderful food. I have never had any problems until today when I took a bite of my apple torte cake, there was small piece of plastic, says dragon fruit flavoring on it. I'm lucky I didn't swallow it. I've been customer for over 25 years but now I'm disappointed and not sure if want to shop here again.

I guess I am a little jaded since I regularly shop at wonderful suburban shops like Wally's, Harvest Fresh, and Alef Sausage and Deli. Granted, Wally's is Polish and the other two are Russian, but they carry similar products. Alef doesn't sell produce but Wally's and Harvest Fresh have far better and more reasonably priced produce than Ann's. Are you kidding me - $4.49 a pound for shriveled up asparagus? I was a little surprised by the clutter on the floor - unpacked boxes that someone could trip over. The aisles were a little too narrow. The breads looked delicious and were fairly priced. I was sorely disappointed by the Pampushky - a Ukrainian doughnut that was supposed to be filled with raspberry. There wasn't even a teaspoon of filling and we ended up adding our own jam! Interesting selection of candy, but higher priced than Alef and much higher than Wally's.
