“The brownie was pretty good with a soft texture and the croissant contrasted that softness with its flakiness”
Easily the best bread you can find in Chicago.
The Monkey Bread was indulgent and delicious, and the sourdough loaves were incredibly fluffy and earthy.
Fresh delicious bread. Organic, local ingredients.
I came by on a Saturday with a friend and picked up an olive sourdough loaf and sesame seed rolls.
Ordered Thanksgiving pies... DO NOT RECOMMEND.
I was excited to try PQB, but I found it pretentious, expensive, and rather flavorless, with a very "corporate" feel.
The kogin aman was inedible. It was raw and tasted like licorice.

“We were craving some sourdough and pastries but feeling a bit lazy, so Publican Quality Bread stood...”
We were craving some sourdough and pastries but feeling a bit lazy, so Publican Quality Bread stood out as the best option available on all the major delivery apps. It’s been on my list to try since I’m always on the hunt for high quality artisanal sourdough, and it’s a huge bonus when a bakery also offers exciting pastries. Their signature Spence sourdough was only available as a full loaf, but you can have it pre-sliced. It was beautifully executed with a perfect crust and a slightly dense yet fluffy interior. The mix of rye and whole wheat gave the bread great flavor, more hearty than sour, but still satisfying. Considering the price, size, and convenience of delivery, this will definitely be one of my top choices when I need a quality loaf. The Chocolate Orange Morning Brioche bun was another standout. It had a beautifully flaky exterior and a rich, slightly gooey center. The orange and chocolate were nicely balanced, though the flavor was bold and perfect for sharing, as it might be a bit much as your only treat. But the Cardamom Monkey Bread? I could eat that every day. It was as good as monkey bread gets, with perfectly balanced spices and a strong, fragrant cardamom flavor. I’ll have a hard time not adding it to every future order. They offer other sourdoughs and pastries that look equally tempting, and I’m looking forward to trying more. I’ll make an effort to visit their physical location sometime, but for now, I really love having great bread delivered right to my door.

We split the mortadella & burrata sandwich and a potato salad. Do not be deceived, this sandwich may look simple but it is packed with flavor and every bite was SO good. The bread was also the perfect texture. Excellent spot!

This is my first visit to Publican Quality Bread, but I have eaten at Publican and shopped at Public Quality Meats. I was in the neighborhood and the timing was perfect because it was 1:00 ish and the fresh bread was being brought out. Woo Hoo! The front retail space is very small, fridge in corner, bread shelves, pastry display case and counter. I bought a Kouign Amann, Chocolate Croissant, Baguette and Ciabatta. I'll be back to try some of the freshly made sandwiches. Très bien! 🥖🥐

“My go-to bakery, Publican Quality Bread on West Grand Avenue, is hands down the best in town.”
My go-to bakery, Publican Quality Bread on West Grand Avenue, is hands down the best in town. My family and I absolutely love this place, and we can’t get enough of their delicious bread and pastries. I even made a video about it, but since I’m still new to social networks, it didn’t get many views. I’ve uploaded it here in hopes that someone else might find it helpful. Trust me, if you haven’t checked them out yet, you’re missing out on some seriously amazing baked goods!

“Just here for the pizza.”
Just here for the pizza. Flavour was really good, and crust had a nice crunch to it. If you’re looking for a great Roman-style pizza, this fits the bill. I especially appreciate the simplicity of ingredients and it not being overloaded with cheese and meat. Quality > Quantity! There was also a nice seating area outside and they had other types of pizza

Walked in for bread and saw this amazing sandwich being made so had to snag a ham and cheese with butter and mustard. Banging. Small amount of seating outside. No bathroom (unless it’s well hidden). Thank you.

After visiting many bakeries in Europe it’s hard to find good bakeries in the US; but the chocolate croissant here is very good. The baguette was a let down; good texture but too salty for my tastebuds. Perhaps I am spoiled though after taking a baguette baking class in Paris.

“on my search for some yummy bread, i stumbled upon publican.”
on my search for some yummy bread, i stumbled upon publican. when i went around 1:45ish, they were sold out of sourdough boules and i’m not sure if they make a new batch before closing or if it’s until the next day, so that’s something to keep in mind for next time! otherwise, there were fresh baguettes with steam on the bag and lots of other breads that i’m sure i’d be a big fan of. i noticed they sell pastries as well, so i was stoked to see some striking selections. i got the cardamom monkey bread (pictured behind the kouign amman) and… all i can say is i wish i’d bought two… or three, or four– anyway! it was yummy, made with a croissant base that hit on a buttery flavor akin to a palmier, with a subtle note of cardamom and a black dough swirl (which i’m assuming is where the flavor comes from) and a slight caramelized bottom with hints of honey and sweetness. i warmed it up at home, but personally, i liked it better as is; it has a particular bite that would pair well with a hot cup of tea <3 overall, great quaint bakery with outdoor seating, very nice service, and fresh, delicious offerings. only downside is i don’t live close by so it’s a journey to swing by, but it’s one worth making. it’s safe to say i’ll be back very soon :)

“Saw they were baking a brownie inside a croissant so naturally I had to try it.”
Saw they were baking a brownie inside a croissant so naturally I had to try it. Turns out I wasn't the only one with this idea as I had to wait about 30 minutes in line. The inside is very small but with open windows it is pretty cool to see the bakers in action. The brownie was pretty good with a soft texture and the croissant contrasted that softness with its flakiness. Along with the croissant I ended up getting a hummingbird cake. It was moist but lacked pineapple as I only got one small piece. Basically a banana bread with cream cheese frosting. These were two unique pastries but nothing special.

I have been going to The Publican in West Loop with my family since I was young (it is one of our favorite restaurants and is always a birthday dinner request). It has been so exciting to have Publican Quality Bread open in my neighborhood! Everything is quality and worth the price. The loaves are a great hostess gift and always excellent. Today, I got a cocoa nib snail and it is the better version of a chocolate croissant. The slightly bitter cocoa nibs with very slight crunch, cardamom(?) and salt filling is excellent and is sweet but not too sweet. A go to spot if you are in the area!
