“I went for tea on a quiet summer afternoon. It was very calm sitting next to a big fountain. I was impressed by the taste and value of this tea. $45 for the full afternoon tea and $15 for a mimosa flight with 3 flavors. There was a plentiful amount of food. I enjoyed the savory sandwiches- especially the cucumber. I appreciated that there was fresh fruit included. The blueberry scones were small, but delicious.”

“We had the loveliest brunch. Jose was a very gracious and friendly host. We really enjoyed his company while we were exploring the menu and he had a lot of knowledge about the building and history of the city. It was very helpful. The food was delicious and Jose made great recommendations.”

“The Walnut Room is a beloved Chicago tradition for a reason. Located inside the historic Marshall Field’s building, this iconic restaurant combines beautiful decor, rich history, and classic comfort food in a way that few places can. The atmosphere is elegant and timeless, making every visit feel special. The food is consistently delicious, the staff is welcoming, and the service is always quick and efficient. It is easy to see why generations of Chicagoans and visitors continue to return. The menu features many of the favorites that helped make the restaurant famous, and the legendary chicken pot pie is an absolute must try. If you appreciate historic dining spots with great food and excellent service, The Walnut Room should be at the top of your list.”

“We were in Chicago for a week in early April and staying in the south loop. We stopped into the massive Macy's store while walking the Pedway. While the girls were shopping I started looking for lunch options, and found out this historic store has a historic restaurant tucked away up on the 7th floor. It's s beautiful large restaurant with great views along two of the walls. It was not busy at all when we were there mid-week, but I could see it being popular for brunches or holidays. Our server was great, covering most of the tables that were sat, but still attentive to us. The food seemed a little slow from the kitchen for the low volume, but it was hot and fresh when it came out. We had a fun lunch cocktail and tried their famous pot pie. I had made a reservation on line but didn't need it this day. In the age of big department stores dying off, it was fun to explore this huge Macy's and I'm glad their keeping the restaurant going as well. It didn't feel like a tourist trap, and is hopefully a spot frequented by Chicagoans.”

“From the elegant charm of the over 100 year old dining room to the famous pot pie and the amazing Frango mint pie…. The Walnut Room is a must go to with every visit to Chicago while visiting family…. This restaurant holds a special place in my heart as a place that I remember as a little kid with my grandmother…. The story is, she always wanted to take me here to eat…. And I never wanted to because it looked so fancy to me, so we always ended up in the basement when they used to have the food court many years ago… then when she passed away I made a point of coming to eat here in her memory and have been doing so ever since. The food is always excellent and the service is great!”

“My uncle brought me to this wonderful restaurant that is located inMacy's in downtown Chicago! We came here a couple of times and had the following: we started with clam chowder in wedge salad and then had Wisconsin asiago crested chicken, they're famous 1890s original chicken pot pie, meatloaf with mashed potatoes, butternut squash tortellacci. We ended this wonderful meal with key lime pie that was delicious. The atmosphere in this restaurant is unbelievably pleasant as you sit at your table enjoying the painting of a muddy waters portrait on the building which I will include in the pictures”

“The Walnut Room (rebranding back to the Marshall Fields Walnut Room) is a real treasure. It is an elegant restaurant perfect for a date night, dinner before a show, business meeting or visiting from out of town. Many tables have views of the city or a large fountain in the middle of the restaurant. The meatloaf is very good, and they had a nice clam chowder option during lent. The service, food, and atmosphere is so good, I highly recommend the Marshall Fields Walnut Room!”

“Best burger in the loop! Great fries and french onion soup too. The walnut old fashioned matched the meal perfectly. If you are looking for a great meal in the loop put them on your list.”

“Highly recommend lunch here!! Don't forget the cheesecake!!”

“This was our first time and we enjoyed ourselves! The holiday decor was delightful. The food was delicious. Our waiter was nice but not attentive. We would recommend dining here. The meatloaf and the pot pie were a big enough serving size to split. All food was tasty and the tree was stunningly gorgeous.”
