Tempo Cafe — dependable american in Gold Coast. The staff makes it feel personal. No long waits, open late. Marc Sleiman: "The eggs were fluffy, the toppings were fresh, and the potatoes were well cooked"

“Tempo Café is a great breakfast spot in the city.”
Tempo Café is a great breakfast spot in the city. I’ve always been able to walk in without a wait, the staff is friendly, and the breakfast is consistently good. My favorite is the Casablanca freshly squeezed juice with strawberry, cantaloupe, and orange juice. Highly recommend!

The service and food were exceptional from start to finish. Everything was prepared perfectly, and the overall experience exceeded my expectations. A special shout-out to Elia—she is truly one of the main reasons I will be coming back. She made me feel genuinely welcomed and at home, and her attention to detail and warmth made the entire experience memorable.

“Absolutely phenomenal food.”
Absolutely phenomenal food. First time being in this part of Chicago, saw this online and truly truly did not disappoint. Some of the best breakfast food I have had in a long time. Omelette has phenomenal flavor and texture, and the chocolate chip pancakes are the best pancakes I’ve ever had in my life. Very fluffy and melts in your mouth. Noelle was very welcoming, and had great service. Great food for a great price

“What can I say, clearly the food was amazing.”
What can I say, clearly the food was amazing! Noelle controlling the “Tempo” like he’s Mourinho holding an aggregate lead at the Camp Nou. What a taste. PANCAKES: They sat next to me for 20 minutes untouched, then I took a bite and felt the depths and softness of the clouds above. Fluffier than Kim K’s bunda. SKILLET: WOW! Dare I say, better than EB. Never thought I’d see the day. A little too much cheese, but other than that amazing. CORN BEEF HASH: Wasn’t mine but told it was good. WINDY WINDY WINDY

This place is great! The menu is huge, and the coffee selection is excellent. The service was fast, with no wait time for our order, even during the lunch rush. The food was tasty, and the prices were decent. Love their patio area!

This spot is well known for its hearty breakfast and late-night meals. The menu has plenty of choices, from omelets and skillets to sandwiches and comfort food favorites. The portions are big, the service is quick, and the atmosphere is relaxed. It’s an easy go-to when you want a filling meal at almost any hour.

Best breakfast omelette in Chicago. Can’t beat the food, location and prices. Orange marmalade on my Greek toast is a great thing.

“Great fun to revisit this place I haven't been to in over 30 years.”
Great fun to revisit this place I haven't been to in over 30 years. No longer open 24hrs a day, so different memories from late night/early morning after the Rush & Division bars. The food was still good solid diner/breakfast food and the service was nice. Seems to be the same Greek owned diner cafe it was since the 80's & 90's. Minor thing is the 20% tip on the check is on the after tax amount so you are tipping on the Illinois sales tax as well. The waiters & waitresses were good though, and kept refilling the coffee...

“It was the best breakfast we had in Chicago.”
It was the best breakfast we had in Chicago. They really do American breakfast very well, and I highly recommend it. We had scrambled eggs with vegetables and fruit pancakes. Even for two people, it was more than enough. It was extremely delicious as well. The inside was a bit dark and crowded, and the tables were very close to each other, but I didn’t see it as a problem. Definitely a place to visit!
