Skylark is a beloved old-school dive bar where regulars return for shockingly good food—especially the fried chicken, fish fry, French toast brunch, and legendary mac and cheese—plus generous drinks and a lively tap selection. Its cozy, nostalgic atmosphere, photobooth, local-art connection, and employee-owned spirit suit casual hangs and late nights, though it’s cash-only and service can be inconsistent.

Skylark was another fantastic recommendation that came from a bartender—this time at Pilsen Yards—and it absolutely delivered. It’s a cash-only neighborhood bar with a fast-paced, no-frills atmosphere that immediately feels welcoming. What amazed me most was watching one guy seemingly run the entire place by himself. He was making drinks, taking orders, handling payments, and somehow keeping everything moving without missing a beat. The drinks were great, the vibe was exactly what I was looking for, and it felt like one of those places that locals already know is special. If you’re looking for an authentic Chicago neighborhood bar, Skylark is easy to recommend.

Lovely place, the crowd a mix of regulars and some hipsters. The tap selection is delightful, and the food is freaking delicious. And who can say no to take a whizz on the oldest urinals in Chicago? Also, you are supporting employee-owners, and a place that gives a forum to local musicians and artists.

One of the greatest dive bars in Chicago. Skylark is old school, simple charm combined with an awesome Pilsen vibe. It's good food, good drinks, good times. I've spent many great and memorable days/evenings/nights at Skylark. May they never shut their doors. Highly recommended. 🍻

Skylark is the definition of a quintessential 'bar'. Good drinks and nostalgic atmosphere. If there is one thing I know about in life, it is a fish fry; I can say hands down, I had the best fish fry tonight at Skylark that I have ever had in the City of Chicago. I know where my Friday night tradition will be--made this Midwestern soul happy.
