The food is cooked with very minimal effort. The ham egg and cheese sandwich was more bread than anything.
I’ve been coming to this place for years and it’s always a hit or miss. I wish there was some type of consistency.
4.4 stars, hmmm... How did that happen. Surely it can't be from Puerto Ricans. I had high hopes. Service was good.

i don’t know who’s complaining about the “slow service/wait,” because it’s damn well worth it and that’s how you KNOW the food is gonna be good! this ain’t no fast food, this is QUALITY <3 hugeeee portions, from the cafe con leche to the Nellie’s breakfast special! i could eat that avena de coco every day… amazing puerto rican cuisine, we were absolutely stuffed and so happy!

Came to Nellie’s with my family and this place did NOT disappoint. We ordered the jibarito and it was 11/10 — absolutely amazing. I literally came all the way from Colorado just to get a legit jibarito, and this one slapped harder than any I’ve had. Flavor on point, portions perfect, and the whole vibe feels like home. Highly recommend — Nellie’s is the real deal. 🙌🔥

Cute little place. Everything was good. Staff was nice and friendly and talked about the menu. I liked the omelette way more than I expected. The cappuccino and cinnamon coconut oatmeal was good—just a bit too much cinnamon on top of the oatmeal, but it was good. Definitely a good spot for breakfast/lunch.

First time there. I went with my daughter and grandson he loves their pancakes! We had the French toast combo everything was cooked to my liking. The café con leche... all I can say is.. did you see the size of my cup?? ❤️

I was especially impressed by their willingness to accommodate a plant based diet. I tried their Vegetarian Jibarito, which was made vegan by omitting the cheese and mayo, it was executed perfectly. The plantains were crispy and flavorful, serving as the perfect “bread” for the sandwich, which was generously filled with fresh avocado. I paired it with a side of arroz con gandules (rice with pigeon peas), which is naturally meatless—a pleasant surprise. Additionally, Nellie’s takes extra care to fry vegetarian items in separate oil, ensuring no cross-contamination with meat products. For someone like me, who is vegan for health reasons, this attention to detail is incredibly important and much appreciated. While I wish there were more vegan options, the care and thoughtfulness put into making this single option delicious and accessible made my visit worthwhile. If you’re vegan or vegetarian and craving a taste of Puerto Rican cuisine, Nellie’s is definitely worth checking out.

Everything is delicious! The avena de coco, breakfast jibaritos, jibaritos , rice … it’s all good. They do have a buffet.

Very homie vibes! The staff is super kind and attentive. Their menu is vast. I would recommend their jibaritos and the Cuban sandwich. This kind of restaurant is what makes the chicago dining experience amazing!

You can always count on Nellie's for a delicious breakfast/brunch. Whether ordering a la carte or taking advantage of the weekend brunch buffet, the food is always fresh and delicious. My family has been coming here for years. It's our go to for taking out of town visitors.
