I ordered this through Door Dash and it was worth the wait. I lived in Puerto Rico 12 years and by far this is the best food since I left the Island and I've have Rican food in NY and NJ. If yall have family in Houston I encourage them to open restaurant there because yall would do good there🫶 Edit to my original post. Im back in Chicago and visited the restaurant this time and placed an order to go and have to say the service was as good as the food its☺️

We went for dinner to try the sandwich they had. I was unfamiliar with the cuisine. The tamal was spicy which was unexpected. If you like Puerto Rico food, you should try this.

This establishment boasts an excellent location, delightful music, and truly delicious food. The Alcapurria was perfectly prepared – moist, fluffy, and toasted to perfection. The Lechón jibarito was exceptionally flavorful; the minced buttery garlic atop the plantain was a particularly enjoyable touch. The Lechón itself was juicy and bursting with flavor. The music selection created an authentic island atmosphere, and the prices are quite reasonable. The only thing missing was a mojito and the sound of Coqui... I will certainly be returning.

Atmosphere is just a sitting place which I don't mind, I go for the delicious food. Restaurants should always be about the food. Jibaros, papa rellena, pastelillos are a bit overstuffed but still scrumptous. The homemade salsa out of the bottle on the table is to die for. The arroz con gandules is also just like my Aunt Vicky and Cousin Josie make it.

The restaurant is nice and clean, the mural is beautiful, but it's a little bright, small table section. We went last week in the evening and couldn't even get in. The tables were all taken, and the carry out line was to the door, we left, but came back today. We were there as soon as they opened. The server was super friendly, and we just told him my allergies in general, one being avocado, and he remembered. My husband's plate had it and mine did not, and we ordered basically the same dish. Everything was delicious. For appetizers we had fried pork on a stick, pinchos ,without the barbecue sauce, he said it had pineapple. Brian tried it with the hot sauce, I used just a little salt, it was so good! Then our second appetizer was a Puerto Rican tamale, so flavorful, I think it's my new favorite kind of tamale. Then our entrees. I had mofongo lechon, mofongo with pulled pork. The pork was amazing by itself, the best I've had, and then the mofongo and the sauce to pour over, I was literally dancing in my seat, it was soo tasty. My husband had mofongo with shrimp and octopus in sauce, his was just as delicious, I tried it. Amazing!! On both plates they had lettuce with tomato, and on his a slice of avocado, because of my allergies. The salad did break up the richness of it all. He had a Malta India, and I had kola champagne, both a type of pop. For dessert we each had our own tembleque, a coconut flan with cinnamon on top. This is absolute heaven if you like coconut like me. Everything was amazing and delicious and honestly, for all that we got and the quality, the price was great. I would highly recommend this place!!! We will be back, they'll probably get sick of us!!

Food was good liked the fried banana macho instead of a bun different taste but was good with garlic on top. I tried the steak one and we also got the Lechón both were really good. It was the first time I try Puerto Rican food and The customer service was really nice. It's restaurant was clean. We also got an empanada de carne. They gave us a salsa it was good and it gave it a better taste to the Jabarito. I saw a video so we went to try out the food I was better the what I expected it to taste.

“Food was amazing.”

Food was amazing! We went on a Sunday afternoon, so finding a seat was a bit difficult. Given how busy they were, our server did forget a few of our things. But the flavor made up for it. My hubby and I ordered two different dishes to split. It was so much food that we had leftovers for the next day. Can't wait to go back!
