Jibaritos on Harlem — straightforward american in Portage Park. Honest, uncompromised flavors throughout. Ask questions, the staff has answers. "The habichuelas were a little bit over seasoned but not bad" — Yesi C

“What a great place.”
What a great place. Friendly staff, and excellent food. I have been here a few times. I used to order food from here when I lived in the neighborhood. Today I went with a lechon asada sandwich with PR rice and started with an alcapurria. Washed it down with a kola champagne. Everything was great and fast. And talk about an absolutely huge menu. You could eat here a year and not have the same thing.

“It had been a little while since I had been here, but I've always been rather fond of their Steak Jibarito.”
It had been a little while since I had been here, but I've always been rather fond of their Steak Jibarito. Todays visit did not disappoint. Sandwich had a nice crisp crunch to it and the garlic sauce continues to be the MVP of the sandwich. Also appears that the restaurant has become more of a dine in facility than it was in the past. There was a bar in the back of the dining room for drinks and far more tables than I remembered seeing here In my older review, i noted that the wait for a Jibarito sandwich could stretch up to an hour in peak period, but today for lunch our sandwiches were prepared within about 15 minutes. Very pleased with that. The Juga de Parcha is also very delicious. Two things of note of todays visit, first the menu here is now enormous. Like a dozen pages, including breakfast items as well Second thing, is that it was really loud in here. There wasn't a great deal of people in here when we dined, but for some reason the noise level felt like we were in an arena. This food here is legit and I'll be back in the future.

“Jibaritos on Harlem is a staple of the North Side of Chicago.”
Jibaritos on Harlem is a staple of the North Side of Chicago. The food is amazing and it was not overpriced. I got a Jibarito with steak and onions, which is a pan fried plantain, which makes the outer layer of the sandwich, the steak was amazing and the onions were light and evenly distributed. I had a Sprite, but they have a lot of really good looking drink concoctions. If your on or near the North end of town, do yourself a favor and try it out. The best Puerto Rican food in the city!

Delicioso! Arroz con gandules was lo mejor! First time trying Jobaritos and I chose the best place! The garlic on top was fire, the meat was amazing on its own! I’m mad I didn’t know about this sooner!

“This place is a great spot for Puerto Rican food.”
This place is a great spot for Puerto Rican food! Love seeing the beautiful culture here. Staff was friendly and place was clean. It’s crowded for a reason, the food is good and reasonably priced compared to other cultural spots. Definitely should try if you want a bit of PR 🇵🇷 food! The murals here are beautiful, I loved seeing them!
