When I still lived in the city I used to come here all the time. I still work in the city so I come whenever I’m around here. Great sandwiches. Great potato salad. Great macaroni salad. Cool hipster bar and vibe. They sell Beacon donuts which are pretty much some of the best you can get in Chicago. Can’t really go wrong here. Solid sandwich shop.

Humboldt haus has become one of my favorite places. I finally tried some of their breakfast items and they were delicious. They have a great cafe menu and many options. I also love their veggie sandwiches. Didn't realize they had a bar too. Can't wait to take a walk to humbolt haus in the summers and enjoy some drinks and sandwiches.

They’ve remodeled this place and the food and atmosphere are much different. In a good way, I’d say. I ordered the labneh toast for pick up. But when I looked at it in my car I thought “I should’ve definitely eaten this here”.

Bilingual review English & Spanish: I was skeptical at the price for a sandwich but every one of them has always come stacked and been very good. The Beast, add Giardiniera or the Italian are my two favorites. It’s always been easy enough to have a beer and grab take out, or have them both at the bar. Splitting a sandwich and a beer each for lunch was a friendly, easy and delicious stop in. One of only two places I grab sandwiches from in Humboldt. Español Me parecía escandaloso el precio de un sándwich, pero todos ellos siempre han venido apilados y estaban muy buenos. The Beast, con giardiniera o Italian son mis dos favoritos. Siempre ha sido bastante fácil tomar una cerveza y pedir comida para llevar, o tomar ambas cosas en el bar. Compartir un sándwich y una cerveza cada uno para almorzar fue una parada agradable, fácil y deliciosa. Uno de los dos únicos sitios de Humboldt en los que pido sándwiches.

There is good service, there is great service and then there is OUTSTANDING SERVICE. Humboldt Haus deserves all the stars and then some. I placed a large order via UberEats yesterday, and the driver only picked up 1 of 2 bags. I immediately called the store and confirmed the other half of my order was on their counter, but I would be out for the afternoon and the driver was unreachable having "completed" the delivery. After multiple text exchanges (likely with a bot) and photos, UE determined that an adjustment could not be made. When I called the store and spoked with Colleen, she apologized profusely (a note had been left regarding the incident) and she offered store credit for the missing order. Then she called back 20 minutes later, asking if I would be home, because the in house driver would bring a replacement in about an hour. Not only did they replace my order, but threw in two slices of cheesecake (there's a special place in heaven for women who gift women on the 2nd day of their cycle cheesecake) I offered to tip the driver but he wouldn't accept a dime, only asked for a good review. I was already addicted to their subs (the West Sider is surprisingly refreshing for a sub, almost like a salad, and the Italian is a Chicago classic- get it with giardinera) and the Toasts (Greek & Lovely) are a little luxury. This is downtown quality from a neighborhood joint. Wish I lived a little closer. Treat yourself today!

Such great sandwiches! They are a bit pricy ($28 for the 2) but they’re worth it. We ordered the Italian and club sandwich. They were quick on making them. There was street parking in the front. They have tables outside for seating and plenty inside. There’s also a bar.

“Been coming here for 10+ years.”

Been coming here for 10+ years. The sandwiches have been fire since the beginning. Always got the Blvd and a beer. Got it again yesterday. Still amazing. Hard to find consistency like this in a sandwich shop.

Sisssssterrrr. Let me start off by saying how amazing the sandwiches were! The service was top tier!! I’ve lived in this area a very long time and never noticed they had a coffee shop/ sandwich shop!!! I can’t wait to see what they do when the remodeling is done. I made a TikTok mini series finding the best coffee shops in chicago (@606lash) in hopes more people discover all these great places! To the owners 👏👏👏 your staff is great and I can’t wait to see the new look!
