“The quality of the fish was amazing and one of the best sushi places in Chicago. The fried rice for me is the best in Chicago. Yellow Tail is a small vibrant atmosphere. It’s BYOB also which is great !”

“I road my bike to pick up my order a head item's. Friendly staff waiting to serve, and took my name off my to go back and I was off back home. I set up in my favorite plate and wow! Best quality sushi I've had in a long time. May be simple but, the wasabi is the best most fresh I've had! The rolls were amazing, smoked salmon rolls and the tempura shrimp avocado roll.”

“Food is really good and the chef made a really nice design for my sushi. Food is a 10/10”

“It's a jewel to have this high-quality Japanese restaurant you be a BYOB. I have been here many times...”

“Its byob which is great and the sushi is really good. One important thing though is that its very dim lighting with loud house music. so i wont recommend for certain things but cute for a fun girls night.”

“Really good sushi. Started with a crispy tuna roll & chicken karage then got the warm roll a scallop on top and the sashimi salmon flight & the white fish salmon flight. Service and server were great.”

“I will say coming back from visiting Japan last year and having Yellowtail Sushi Bar was uplifting. I felt the quality of the fish was as good as I had it when I was in Japan. Really brought back good memories for me! The chefs platter was worth every penny! The service was great! I have to say the ambiance was good. I did think it was a little too dark at the front of the building. Overall I will recommend YSB&AK is worth every bite!”

“Yellowtail, a sushi restaurant nestled in the Lakeview town of Chicago, has left an indelible mark on my culinary adventures. From the moment I stepped foot into the restaurant, I was captivated by its enchanting ambiance and the immersive oceanic experience it offered. Without a doubt, Yellowtail is a haven for sushi enthusiasts seeking a sensory delight. The first thing that caught my attention was the stunning projection of an ocean scene, gracefully displaying a mesmerizing dance of jellyfishes. It was like stepping into a tranquil underwater realm, as if the ocean's gentle sway accompanied each bite. The subtle and calming lighting further enhanced the immersive experience, transporting me to a serene world where time seemed to stand still. The restaurant's decor exuded elegance and sophistication, blending traditional elements with modern touches. The intimate seating arrangement provided a comfortable and intimate dining experience, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the culinary journey ahead. Now, let's talk about the star of the show—the sushi. Yellowtail's menu boasts an impressive array of meticulously crafted sushi rolls, each one a miniature work of art. From the delicate texture of the fish to the precise balance of flavors, every bite was a symphony of taste. The chefs at Yellowtail showcased their expertise in presenting a fusion of traditional and contemporary sushi creations, satisfying both the purists and the adventurous diners. Despite the unforgettable experience, I must mention a minor issue that I encountered. On a couple of occasions, I had to repeat my request before it was attended to. However, this was quickly overshadowed by the impeccable service and the overall positive experience I had at Yellowtail. The staff was genuinely friendly and knowledgeable, and their passion for sushi shone through in their attentive and prompt service. In conclusion, Yellowtail stands as a shining beacon for sushi lovers in our city. With its captivating environment, complete with the enchanting jellyfish projection, this restaurant has created an experience that transcends a mere meal. The meticulous craftsmanship displayed in their sushi, along with the warm and attentive service, left me with a lasting impression. Despite the minor hiccup of repeating my request, Yellowtail undoubtedly earns my highest recommendation for anyone seeking a culinary adventure like no other.”

“Fantastic and delicious sushi! They have a large menu with all the usual options plus even more. We started with the miso soup which was delicious, and then split the spicy scallop roll and the yellowtail shoga roll. Both were delicious and I would recommend. Service was quick and attentive but not rushed. The prices here are very fair and good for the neighborhood.”

“We’ve enjoyed this place over the years for its seeming attention to detail and food quality, but we will not be returning anytime soon, if ever. We ordered carry out and the main part of my meal was a simple Philadelphia roll. I went to eat the roll and had already eaten two pieces before realizing there was a large strip of aluminum foil running through most of the roll. I have ulcerative colitis and something like pieces of aluminum foil can cause serious issues. I called the restaurant and they kept putting me on hold, but I could hear them talking about it in the background deciding what to do. When the manager got on he acted “oh this happens all the time so it’s not a big deal”, and said they’d just credit me for the roll and that was that. The way he spoke to me was as if *I* was the issue because I was reporting it. I wasn’t asking for a free meal, but for him to act that way then brush it off without even pretending to sound like he cared told me all I need to know about this restaurant going forward. Accidents happen, but he didn’t even act like it mattered, I don’t even think he apologized at all and he clearly couldn’t care less. I’m extremely disappointed in how they handled this. You can see the foil in the attached pictures, so be cautious and always check your food if you choose to eat here.”
