“Two words: Capital Grille. They conjure quality, class, tradition. Chicago’s location is no exception. After a long flight, I wanted something light. No risks. Just a guaranteed hit. I walked in solo and was warmly greeted, then offered a seat at the lively bar. There was an easy warmth in the air. I couldn’t tell who were regulars and who were just passing through… everyone looked comfortable and at home. Brayan took care of me, suggesting cocktails, wine, or beer. I told him what I was after, and he guided me to the shrimp cocktail and their well-known crab. I went for both. No disappointment here. Generous portions, fresh, beautiful seafood, and sauces that were homemade with care. I was chatting with Brayan, eating shrimp cocktail, watching the Cubs at the bar of the Chicago Capital Grill. What iconic moments. Memorable indeed.”
“I was a little skeptical coming here as it is a national franchise but I have to admit I was surprised by the quality of the food. The calamari was fried perfectly and generous on the portion. The dirty martini, after I feedbacked that it was not cold enough, was adjusted perfectly. The lobster mac and cheese and creamed spinach was very adequate. What impressed me was the porcini-rubbed ribeye - it was cooked perfectly with such an umami glaze and I found myself thinking that this is more of what I expected of Chicao steak, unlike the disappointment I had at Bavette’s. Service was very pleasant and decor was of an old well maintained American steakhouse.”
