“We loved this Thai restaurant and their efforts to create an amazing place for vegetarian and vegan food lovers”
Very rude service. The girl at the checkout ruined my mood for the whole day. I will never come back again!
Me and my partner have come here a couple of times.

One of my favorite places to eat ever. Best pad thai, curry dumplings, and thai tea. Everything else I've had is great too.

“We loved this Thai restaurant and their efforts to create an amazing place for vegetarian and vegan food lovers.”
We loved this Thai restaurant and their efforts to create an amazing place for vegetarian and vegan food lovers. Their 'meat' dishes are soy based and really well made and tasty. We tried their Orange chicken which used their soy chicken which is really amazing. The other dishes we tried were their green curry and veggie puffs, both awesome. They have soy meats and seitan and of course tofu for proteins. I first thought they were a small seating place but then realized they have a pretty sizeable section at the back as well. Highly recommend this place to vegans and others as well.

Very expansive menu with curries, noodles, salads, apps, and classic Thai dishes with multiple protein options (tofu, seitan, "pepper steak" and more) Very flavorful food. Can't wait to go back

“I had one if their combos.”
I had one if their combos. All I can say is wow. Best vegan Asian cuisine in Chicago. I had the P.E.T. with vegan peppered steak, extra hot. It was so so good. Will be returning tomorrow.

“Urban Vegan’s orange chicken is delicious.”
Urban Vegan’s orange chicken is delicious! It was a staple takeout meal while I lived in Chicago. Better than any real orange chicken I had! The taste, texture, and portion size are all top notch. All at an affordable price. The "chicken" itself is coated with a breading that's not overly crispy or soggy. Biting into the chicken has a perfect crunch leading into the savory chicken bit. I believe they use some form of seitan for the chicken itself. It's soft and has a similar mouthfeel to actual chicken. The chicken bits have a variety of sizes so you get large chunks mixed with smaller crispy bits. The sauce is sweet and tangy. They put just the right amount on the chicken so that each nugget is well coated, but not drowning in sauce. The sauce's consistency helps it stick to the chicken. Usually they'll include two small orange slices which adds a fun aesthetic touch to the meal. The chicken is paired with a serving of purple rice that provides a neutral flavor to balance out the chicken. The rice is cooked to be soft, but with enough structure to not be mushy. If you can call it a downside, the portion size is too large. I would highly suggest saving half of the serving as leftovers. As a takeout meal, it would usually work as dinner plus tomorrow's lunch. I moved from Chicago to Seattle 3 years ago and this was one of my favorite takeout dishes. I finally made it back to Urban Vegan for a visit and it held up well. Even though I'm not vegan, some days I wish I could teleport an order of the orange chicken to my dinner table.
