Andy's Thai Kitchen — straightforward thai in Lakeview. Nothing here has been watered down. BYOB, cash only. Shaan Somani: "The basil chicken was very spicy, even as someone who normally enjoys spicy food"

“Easily the best Thai food I’ve ever had.”
Easily the best Thai food I’ve ever had. Excellent friendly service, great little place. I am a regular customer because of their reliably delicious food and friendly staff. Great for both dine-in and takeout

“The food was great.”
The food was great! I came here for dinner after treating myself to a head spa scalp treatment that’s a minute (walking distance) away from Andy’s Thai Kitchen. Cozy restaurant and friendly service. I ordered the grilled squid and crab fried rice. The crab fried rice hit the spot (had a lot of those in Thailand during my honeymoon earlier this year)!

“Pleasant atmosphere, good pad Thai and good quantity too.”
Pleasant atmosphere, good pad Thai and good quantity too. I liked that I could have almost any item made vegetarian and I could add extra veggies as well. The service was quick and it’s a place I would go back to again.

“We love this place.”
We love this place! The food is AMAZING! The starters, the mains, and the desserts. Everything. The atmosphere is okay, the service is great. Remember: they only take cash (they have an ATM inside, so no worries if you don’t have at the moment).

“Not perfect for a five star review, but I was quite happy with my experience at Andy’s for BYOB,...”
Not perfect for a five star review, but I was quite happy with my experience at Andy’s for BYOB, wide menu full of different dishes and an authentic take on those dishes. I think the cash-only part is also worth it for BYOB and generous portions. Everyone at our table was very happy with the flavors and ingredients in all of the dishes. I get the sense that not every dish comes out the same every time, especially in regards to heat level. My “spicy” pad Thai udon was sweet and less spicy except for the sliced jalapeños (which were good), almost to the point of being overly sweet, and overly sauced, with nothing special about the chicken, but the fresh ingredients and flavor profile still made for a great pad Thai and the udon was a nice twist. Pad kee Mao, Penang curry and crispy pork belly were all well received, with the pork belly maybe not quite crispy enough. I would rather come here and try all the different dishes then go to a slightly trendier spot at a higher price point. It captured the ethos of casual Thai food perfectly.

“Andy's Thai Kitchen (ATK) has a large menu including both northern and southern Thai cuisine...”
Andy's Thai Kitchen (ATK) has a large menu including both northern and southern Thai cuisine including dishes that are seen at most restaurants. Their green curry was one of the better ones I have eaten (they did not overdo the sweetness). Drunken noodles used fresh rice noodles and was well seasoned. The Palo was tasty but may not be for everyone. The interior was clean. *Note* Cash only

“Best panang curry I’ve had.”
Best panang curry I’ve had. PERIOD!!! First bite and I was like wow. I also loved the vibes of the place. The juxtaposition of vintage tables and aesthetic with the trance pop music made me really happy. Great service. BYOB. Liquor store next door. Will be back.

It s another good authentic thai food in chicago. Most dishes we ordered are very good. even some dish that it’s a little too sweet but good texture. the server was great. Place looks comfy, clean and space. Will go back to try another dishes. There are so many interesting dishes. Just head up, order 1 portion, you can eat for 2 people because is huge.

“Amazingly flavorful and well made dishes with TONS of vegetarian and vegan options.”
Amazingly flavorful and well made dishes with TONS of vegetarian and vegan options. They were so large I think we all took home around half of our meal and got an entire second meal out of it. Located right off the Brown and Purple line at Diversey stop, it’s really easy to get to! It’s not a huge space so I’d recommend making a reservation just in case.

“There were four of us and everyone enjoyed lunch.”
There were four of us and everyone enjoyed lunch. The food and service was fantastic. The only thing I think they should change is they only take cash. Like many businesses today, they can't afford to absorb the cost charged by the credit card companies. I believe they should offer the option, but have the customer pay the fee if they want to use a credit card. Especially because an awful lot of people under 35 years of age don't seem to carry cash with them. I think they are needlessly losing a lot of business, which is a shame because I would love to see Andy's Thai Kitchen be around for many years to come.
