Daisy's Po-Boy and Tavern — soul food in Hyde Park. No frills and no gimmicks, just a solid honest room. Solid drinks, with the bar pulling its weight.

“Seasoned well and cooked to perfection, not easy but they got it”
“We went here for date night, the food took us directly back to New Orleans.”
We went here for date night, the food took us directly back to New Orleans. The gumbo is one of the best and most flavorful in the city and the shrimp Po-Boy was as good as the best ones we have had New Orleans.

“A newer spot in Hype Park.”
A newer spot in Hype Park. We went for Happy Hour. Order at the counter, take number, and then seat yourself. The food was good, the service team was nice, and the drinks from HH menu were good.

“Daisy's has been on the bucket list and they did not disappoint.”
Daisy's has been on the bucket list and they did not disappoint. My fried shrimp Po Boy was the best I've had outside New Orleans. Will come back soon.

“**NEIGHBORHOOD GEM ALERT**If you like Po’ Boys and a festive atmosphere, this is the place.”
**NEIGHBORHOOD GEM ALERT**If you like Po’ Boys and a festive atmosphere, this is the place! I highly recommend the cauliflower and the Shrimp Po’ Boy! I wasn’t a fan of the Mint Julep but that’s minor. The Hurricane made up for it! 😊. Check them out! ⭐️

“So glad we gave Daisy’s a try.”
So glad we gave Daisy’s a try! After visiting the Museum of Science and Industry, we stopped by Daisy’s for dinner and were so happy with our experience. To eat, three of us ordered 3 Biscuits with Honey Butter, Fried Green Tomatoes, a bowl of the Seafood Gumbo, the 6” BBQ Shrimp Po’ Boy, and the 6” Fried Shrimp Po’ Boy. The biscuits were buttery and cheesy and the honey butter was just the right amount of sweet. The Fried Green Tomatoes were good but not the star of the show. The sandwiches were incredibly flavorful and delicious. The Fried Shrimp Po’ Boy had just a kick of spice that really added to the flavor. Finally, the Seafood Gumbo had the perfect zip we were looking for and was so flavorful. All around, the food was amazing and just what we were looking for from a Cajun restaurant. For the ambiance, the restaurant was decorated with fun, Cajun-themed decor and the employees were friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend Daisy’s for casual, Cajun cuisine in Hyde Park!

“Went here on a Saturday evening and had a great experience.”
Went here on a Saturday evening and had a great experience! The food was so delicious and fresh! Every thing on my plate tasted great and it was enough to get me full. I actually had to take some home. The atmosphere is super fun and they play New Orleans themed music. All the workers were polite and attentive. You pay for your food up front, seat yourself wherever you choose, then they bring it to your table. The water, silverware and to go containers are all out for you to get yourself. I got the catfish plate and my total was $26

“I had the most enjoyable meal at this little gem owned by the James Beard award winning Virtue restaurant.”
I had the most enjoyable meal at this little gem owned by the James Beard award winning Virtue restaurant. It reminded me of my visits to New Orleans and the tiny eateries on the famed Magazine street. I started with my beloved Oyster Po-Boy with a cup of Gumbo washed down with an iced cold Abita. I also sampled a warmed Muffuletta with Cajun cole slaw. Delish! So if you have a chance, you must stop by Daisy’s. It’s a fun place, where the music flows well along side one of their frozen Hurricanes. Oh, and did I say their staff rocks! Thanks Tariq for making our visit so memorable.

“I lived in Baton Rouge / Nola area for 5 years.”
I lived in Baton Rouge / Nola area for 5 years. Easily the highest quality creole food you will find in the Chicago area. Had the shrimp po boy, red beans and fries - phenomenal. Very excellent work by the team to preserve New Orleans inspired food and not ruin it with Midwest influence! Must try it out to believer it.

“Me and my girls came here after discovering that there was a 2 week waitlist for The Virtue.”
Me and my girls came here after discovering that there was a 2 week waitlist for The Virtue. We made the right decision to try this place out. We were greeted right away with a menu. Our order was quite large, and I am a foodie and wanted to try everything. The Peacemaker PoBoy is a must-have: fired osterwd and roaster beef!! Flavors burst The fried green tomato Po-Boy is a must-have.. all my vegetarian lovers, you will not be disappointed The gumbo was so flavorful - disclaimer, you do not get the crab claw pictured with take out orders. Chop salad was my jam.. meat galore! The blacked cauliflower - I'm sad I didn't try this hot at the restaurant. I believe it could have been better if I had done so. Voodoo wings were just okay for me. It definitely lacked flavor. Red bead and rice - very good. I wish it had more spicy, that's just my preference. The blacked chicken sandwich, I will go back just to have another bite. There are definitely layers to this sandwich. I'm here for it all!! We will be back

“I really enjoyed the atmosphere.”
I really enjoyed the atmosphere. New age dining. Order, pay, take a number and find a seat. Kind of like Roux diner in Hyde Park. Vibrant, busy and the line was getting longer as we waited to eat. There is no time limit( but it should be) the parties next to us on both sides were done eating before we got our meals and they were still seated when we left. We had the PO boys !! The catfish and the shrimp. Not a bad sandwich but no seasoning on the seafood?? We added hot sauce which they offered both Crystal and Louisiana. The 1/2 chicken was delicious!! Seasoned well and cooked to perfection, not easy but they got it !! The coleslaw is ok, vinegar based. The voodoo wings were awesome! Spicy and done right. The biscuits were good, my mom loved them. The gumbo and red beans were good. Crowded but ample seating available. Enjoy.
