I wanted to try out the pollo a la brasa as it's a peruvian staple.
This restaurant is known for the Peruvian Style Pollo a la Brasa, sadly every time I give it another try, it disappoints me more and more, I have been ordering pollo a la brasa to go during weekdays and hasn’t been fresh (cook the same day) 😖 last time I ordered a whole chicken the thighs were cold like it has been reheated 🤮 and the salad was so disgusting.
Yes the reviews are true. Be careful. They will add the tip on top of the total from the tax. Scam.

We had a great experience overall at this Peruvian restaurant. The service was excellent, and once seated, the entire vibe was amazing—from the warm lighting to the music playing in the background. I would recommend some improvement at the host stand, as we weren’t greeted properly or promptly when we arrived. It was a bit confusing at first until I noticed the sign instructing guests to wait to be seated. Once we were seated, everything turned around. Our server, Franky, was attentive, welcoming, and patient, answering all of our questions since it was our first time dining here. Now let’s talk about the food and drinks—delicious! We ordered Cusqueña Peruvian beer and a Maracuyá Margarita, both were refreshing and flavorful. For food, we had Papa a la Diabla, Tallarín Verde con Pollo a la Parrilla, the kids’ Salchipapas, and for our starter, the Ceviche de Pescado. All I can say is—we were not disappointed at all. My chicken was slightly salty for my personal taste, but my partner really enjoyed it. The meat was cooked to perfection, medium, just the way it should be. Overall, a great dining experience with excellent service and delicious food. We’ll definitely be back! (Sorry for the one picture but I didn’t have enough storage to take more pictures! lol)

You already know I’m always looking for the next Peruvian joint!!!!!! This place has been on my list for a while. Simply delicious, and taste just as it would in-country. Cev and chicha exactly as it should be, and the empanadas were >>>>> Hasta la proxima. 🫶🏾

Food was spectacular. This is one of our favorite spots in ChiTown to enjoy authentic peruvian food. Service is always welcoming and friendly. I had a "Chupe de Camaron" that was really good. All the food we got was very tasty and cooked to perfection. Tonight was our 4th time visiting this great spot.

We went on the recommendations of a TikTok influencer and loved everything. My friend ordered a dis neither of us had tried before, but ended up both of us ordering 2 each to go. Our waiter was patient and told us the ingredients of each. Thank you for the welcoming atmosphere and food. I asked if I could take the cook home!☺️♥️👍🏾.

Enjoyed eating here, food, service and atmosphere were great. You could BYOB, plenty of tables. Restaurant was clean. Friendly staff. We ordered the ceviche de camarón, mariscos, and pollo rostizado. Will definitely be coming back.

Well cooked and seasoned chicken! I loved the food. The service was great and I didn't wait long. I ordered a whole chicken and 2 sides. It was enough to feed 2 people, and take home left overs.

Peruvian food in Chicago doesn’t get better than this! Being Peruvian and always looking for great authentic food is tough to find on the south side, so I always have to head north for my fix! D’Candela is my go to anytime I’m in the area. The food is always extremely good no matter what I’ve tried. The dishes here do not disappoint. I was also happy to find them being open on Memorial Day. Please don’t ever change a thing unless it’s adding more dishes! Great food, great service and perfect location!
