Poke Okie — Avondale cafe that sets the standard. It gets busy, and that's part of the appeal. Coleman Balogh: "It was handmade with care and the ingredients were fresh and tasty" [$$]

My favorite poke spot in the neighborhood! Everything tastes incredibly fresh, and you can tell the ingredients are prepped in-house. The quality is excellent and a big step above the typical chain poke places.

We were in the area and happened to stop by here completely by chance. The place is okay. Unlike other spots where you already have “pre-assembled” ingredients for a poke bowl and just choose which one you want (so-called signature bowls), here you have to build it yourself. The poke was fine. The ingredients are fresh, and since I picked what I like, of course I enjoyed it. The place feels cozy and interesting, with lots of plants inside. My only complaint is that the low white tables are very close together, so you literally can’t move. They need to be spaced out a bit.

We loved all the tropical plant life at Poke Okie Cafe It really set a relaxing mood. I got the 3-scoop poke bowl, it was thoroughly delicious! My hubby got the roasted duck rice bowl, good but very dry. We both got a Hawaiian sunshine smoothie- Big Mistake! No, seriously. They were amazing, but very filling. We could have gotten one and shared it. Go to Pokie Okie! 💃💃💃Follow @suttondancer5757 for more food and experiences in and around Chicago 💃💃💃

I love how colorful and vibrant the restaurant is! Lush with greenery and fun seating options. I love their poke bowls. I see now that they have other things on their menu. I'll definitely have to come back and try some more.

Poke bowls as tasty as they are beautiful. Sizeable portions with tons of fish. We were really impressed by the atmosphere, options, and the real bowls and silverware. Great addition to this side of Milwaukee.

I believe this place is a sister location to The Sipping Turtle, that being said the food is so good. I love the freshness of the ingredients, it truly is fully customizable. Only thing I wouldn’t recommend is their smoothies, I just don’t think they have a lot of flavor (super bland smoothies, taste like a lot of ice)

Walk up counter restaurant with a nice variety of poke bowl options. Medium size was enough to satisfy a late lunch on an empty stomach. Everything tasted fresh and the poke sauce had a good balance of umami and sweetness without being overpowering. The preparation took awhile otherwise no complaints.

I had been wanting to come here for a while and today I had the perfect opportunity. It was so warm and inviting inside, I sat in the window and was surrounded by plants as I enjoyed my poke bowl. No single use plastic, my bowl came out warm and I was given a fork and a glass of water (which was a considerate touch as I hadn’t asked for water - but appreciated it).
