I’ve tried a lot of different Mexican restaurants in Chicago and I mean a lot. This place is number 2 now on my list. Out of respect I won’t name my first but this place is actually really really good. I promise the flavors and authenticity is there. Definitely be back soon!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5-Star Review for Taquizas Don Rafa (La Villita) This place is a gem. They run a full Mexican buffet Tuesday through Sunday, and on the day I went I counted 24 different guisados — no joke. For dessert they had pan dulce, arroz con leche, classic Mexican sweets, small fruit cups, coffee, and champurrado. What really impressed me is that they’ll make pancakes, waffles, sopes, huaraches, and chilaquiles fresh to order at no extra cost. Every dish I tried was delicious with great, authentic flavors. I love that whatever craving I walk in with, I can always find something here. This spot deserves the 5 stars. Oh as if all that was not enough, the service is superb, everyone is soo nice!

Buffet has different items on different days, owner tends to posts on TikTok with daily specials @taquizasdonrafa You can also order side items, all included in buffet price. 18.99/pp + tax. “I was really impressed with this buffet.”

I was really impressed with this buffet. Everything was delicious and authentic. I walked in and was seated immediately, was able to serve my plate, grab a drink, and was served freshly handmade tortillas. I also grabbed a bowl of pozole, which is nearly impossible to find anywhere on a weekday. They even have an option where you can place an order for quesiddilas and sopes. I'm so glad I found this place. I wish it was sooner. I can't wait to come back with my whole family as it is very reasonably priced.

Great concept, nicely executed. The food didn't lack authenticity. Don't know how they to do. But it was amazing. Got to talk to the owner and she was really nice. It was like eating at my grandma's house. Amazing hospitality 🫰🏽
